Are you ever brazenly, stupidly overconfident?
Tonight I painted my living room. And, because I Am The Great Femmedem, I decided I didn't need to tape, not even around the natural woodwork where every little speckle of paint would show, and be impossible to clean off. :(

The Great Femmedem is not lazy, either. Neurotic, sure, but not lazy. My evidence? I actually did tape around all the trim. Then I put a thin layer of acrylic varnish over the edge of the tape, so the paint wouldn't bleed under. This took a long time. But right before I started painting, I ripped up all the tape and threw it away. Why? Because The Great Femmedem didn't trust the tape as much as she trusted her own hands and her own eyes.

Oh yeah, and I did all this in my favorite jeans. The good ones. The ones that I can wear--make that used to be able to wear--with a nice jacket, and look dressed up.

What about you? Done any brazenly, stupidly overconfident things lately?
