My partner got a new job...and a promotion.

My partner Bryan used to work at the FYE (music and video) store in our local Mall. He hated the job, and came home screaming every night about his incompetent coworkers who were dumping their work load on him and the other people who actually cared.

He wanted to quit, and I reluctantly agreed to let him quit to pack and prepare for the move to our new house. I knew one basic thing about him: he's never happy without a project or job. He can't just "do nothing." Once the move was nearly complete (as it is now), he'd want another job.

So yesterday morning he gets a phone call. FYE not only wanted him back, they wanted to make him Assistant Manager at another nearby store, with an increase in pay and benefits. He agreed.

It's funny. It seems that the way to get a promotion at that company is to quit! :)
