I just found wild strawberries in my yard!
Looked down, saw a little red something I thought was a flower. Took another look, saw that it looked berry-ish, and then I recognized the leaves.

:wow: :bounce:

That's like the coolest thing so far this month.

I guess it's better than finding a squirrel playing chess with death in your backyard.

3. Watch out
I have a wildflower garden, and a few years ago I thought it would be neat to add some wild strawberries. It didn't take long for them to take over the whole damn garden, I'm still pulling them out several times a year. They're worse than raspberries, which I incidentally also pulled last fall.

5. I'll keep that in mind
The same thing happened to me and 3 mint plants in my mom's garden - 3 plants that inexplicably turned into about 150 the following year. We threw 'em in the ditch, where they of course thrived and smelled pretty wonderful in summer.

8. Oh yes.
I hate those buggers even more than I hate day lilies, which similarly took over the garden at my husband's condo.

10. they keep strangling our grass
but since we have a hard time keeping 'green grass' growing in our clay soil, we have decided to let 'green' creepers such as the wild strawberries grow. Violets as well. Used to be a spare but pretty sprinkling of purple in the yard in April - now it is a carpet (and the green keeps parts of the yard looking green even as the grass dies.)
