Damn, this is the biggest bruise I've ever had.

Long Story Short, I went to donate plasma Friday Afternoon so I could have money to buy groceries for spring break. (Due to commitments at my campus radio station, I have to stay in Stevens Point for break.) I got stuck with a rookie tech, who botched the needle stick in my left arm, and made an unrelated mistake that resulted in me being DQed or donation that day (I still got paid, but It does not count towards bonus money.)

It hurts like hell, too. x(

The tech said that I could use the bathroom while she got another needle to do my right arm. I went, and when I got back, her supervisor informed me that in accordance to FDA regs, that I would not be able to donate that day.

4. Because they'd torn the heck out of your veins?
That makes sense, I suppose.

6. No, because I had visited the bathroom.
I guess it's FDA policy to keep blood plasma tainted with drugs out of the system.

5. That crap happened to me when I was in college.
I went to get a little extra money. I waited in line for about twenty minutes then had to fill out a shit load of forms. They they pricked my fingers and all the other crap. After about two hours of waiting around the mofos told me that I couldn't donate because my pee had too much protein in it.

TWO FUCKING HOURS! and I didn't get one damn dime.

8. I got one like that once
Same deal — rookie blood tech at a private lab. I've got really good veins for drawing blood, but this dude went through one.

They apologized all over the place and gave me a T-shirt and a coffee mug filled with Hershey's Kisses. But I couldn't bend my arm for like five days.

9. Dang, dude!
Don't let Vampirella draw your blood next time!

I had a bruise on the back of my hand from a drip once. Little did I know that I was the training victim of a new vein sticker. I just about came out of my skin...but I didn't have a choice, because I had to have surgery.

Hope that bruising goes down soon. Are you putting compresses on it or anything?

10. Ouch! I hope that it goes away soon.
My entire abdomen was covered in one huge bruise after I had both my kids because I had to have heparin injections after they were born. I looked like I had been beaten by a baseball bat.

11. My dear JonothanChance......
You need to put ice on it, pronto!

As a retired nurse from a blood bank, I know what I'm talking about!

Stay away from aspirin, too......

After using ice for 24 hours or so....switch to heat. Warm compresses.

Both the ice and then the heat will help the body absorb the bruise.

I know it hurts.....I'm sorry it happened to you......
