5 Questions to end the week...
1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?

Best bruises

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?

When I was 11 I went on an adventure day with my best friend, Erica. We actually left our homes with lunches tied up in cloth which we carried over our shoulders suspended on a stick (Just to be retro) We had so much fun.

3. Do you like your name?

Not really. It's not horrible, but it isn't something I would pick. I'm glad it's not Jennifer, Lisa or Susan though, as I went to school with a zillion of those.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?

I found myself plummeting toward the side of a mountain in a small aircraft. It only lasted a few seconds, but they were LONNNG seconds. Word to the wise, don't fly too close to a glacier at the top of a mountain.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?

Yesterday I bought a scented salt scrub.

Not particularly, although I'm honored for the family member I'm named after.

7. These:
1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?
Some guy I knew told me I had ‘big balls’. Gutsy, I believe, is what he meant.

Standing by the backyard fence (I was 4 years old) in San Diego watching the kids in the school playground and realizing I desperately wanted to go to school.

Yes. It's unique. How many people do you know named Egon?

Landing at Logan airport in Boston during a really bad storm. The electrical system on the plane was knocked out and we were being tossed around like we were on a carnival ride. I really thought I was going to die that night.

A tube of Biotherm face cream for $55.00. I spend a disproportionate amount of my income on crap like that, hoping that it will make me look 25 again. Sigh.......When will I learn?

1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?
"Most obnoxious" by a bunch of assholes in my old college dorm. I had recently had a bad breakup with my boyfriend and tried to OD. Rub it in, dickheads.

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?
4th of July picnic in Chicago when I was almost 9. It was the last time my dad's whole family was together. By September, we had lost my uncle Bum from a heart attack, and not even a month after that, my cousin Chris from an accidental electrocution.

3. Do you like your name?
Love it. It's exotic and unusual, even if it is hard to pronounce. There aren't many of me out there.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?
The night before I was conclusively diagnosed with MS, I had what the doctor now thinks was a "cramp" in my spinal cord. We thought for sure I was having a stroke. My whole left side went hot then numb, then my left arm pulled up in a claw next to my body. I was terrified. Fortunately, I had already had the MRI and we knew that's probably what it was. We also ended up scaring the EMTs with all our Halloween props, so had a good laugh, even in the mdst of adversity.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?
Some upholstered boxes for old photos and letters to dress up my office instead of using ugly cardboard boxes.

I'll never forget the day I thought I had a numb toe and the Dr. told ME that I had MS... then, his eyes proceeded to roll back in his head as his false teeth rotated around in his mouth.

I guess his name must have been Dali. Twas unreal!

1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?

Dux of my shool would be more dubious than that award given to me by my state, so I guess that one.

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?

I don't remember things like that, I'm afraid. My memory is.... unusual.

3. Do you like your name?

Yes. All of them.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?

Has to come down to one of three incidents:

A) Trying to work out if I was hallucinating this one time;
B) When I nearly broke my neck at school;
C) One time I calculated the greatest possible difference between a real memory and a false one in terms of how 'real' it feels.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?

I don't buy anything more than the things I need; thus I don't believe I have purchased anything frivolous in the last couple of years. :) Combined with not buying anything before a few years ago, I think I may have never bought something frivolous. Scary, huh?

19. Since it's only five questions:
1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?
I got a medal, once. I did not deserve it because, well, I was just THERE and didn't have any choice but to do what I did.

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?
That would be the day I rode the skid. I wouldn't, if I knew then what I know now.

3. Do you like your name?
My given name? I despise it, actually. But I'm comfortable being Redstone.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?
I don't have one, having been diagnosed by a shrink as having "a pathological lack of fear." It's not any fun, believe me.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?
A cheesesteak hoagie for lunch today. My arteries did NOT need it, but I got it anyway. And damn, did it taste good.

1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?

Shopping with my mom overseas.

3. Do you like your name?

Yes. I didn't when I was little, but it's actually a very nice name.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?

I almost didn't graduate, because a professor lost my final paper. But then she found it.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?

1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?

MEAP awards in reading and math. Math? I could hardly do it anyways, how I got a reward in it I will never know.

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?

When I was eight and my dad took me and my sister to an amusement park that is now called "Michigan's Adventure." We had so much fun then.

3. Do you like your name?

No, not really. Karla is such a boring and prissy name. I would prefer something unique such as Weather or Democracy.

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?

My encounter with a bat in my room as well as with one that flew right into my face. My trip with my dad and sister and going on Castle Rock. I am very afraid of heights and when I was up there I actually was crawling on the "floor" the whole time my dad was laughing at me. }:(

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?

Some natural shampoo for my hair, some brown bottles for my Florida water and some reusable tea bags.

24. Here ya go!
1. What is the most dubious honour/award you have ever received?

Class fave! I thought it was silly! All those types of awards are silly really. But was I really everyone's fave? I think not!

2. If you could revisit one day of your youth, what day would it be?
Any of those summer days at the ball field while my brother played baseball! My friends and I would play kiss chase with all of the cute boys there! Those were the days

3. Do you like your name?
Not really! I get why my mom and dad liked it I guess, but is Shelley really THAT great of a name?

4. What was the biggest scare in your life?
No question! The day my brother died. And being with my mom when we both got the news. The scariest most awful day EVER. The shock was bad enough for me, but to see my mom go through hearing the news that her 24 year old son died in a car accident was beyond horrifying. I still relive that day often. I remember every detail.

5. What was your last frivolous purchase?
Shoes and clothes! Always shoes and clothes!
