Five Random Questions for a Thursday Night:
1. What's your favorite take-out food?
(Sesame chicken from a little Chinese place up near campus, or Mabe's Around-the-Garden, double cheese pizza are my picks)

2. If you could change any ONE thing about your job, what would you change?
(I'm voting for pay appropriate to the 21st century)

3. If someone were to drop $100,000 in your lap on the condition that you BLOW IT ON YOURSELF, what would you do with it?
(A good, 88-key, weighted action electric piano - not a lot of bells/whistles, just really good piano tone; a reliable vehicle; repair on some family jewelry I'd like to wear; a NEW FURNACE so I don't have to worry all through next winter like I did this one; a new 'puter and a few CDs maybe; and some traveling)

4. What's your favorite bird? (common loon, Minnesota state bird, closely followed by bald eagle)

5. What is the first book you remember reading? (A little book of Shakespeare plays, in story form, written for children, with beautiful full-color plates on really glossy paper)

So how about you folks??

3. *lol* You sound like my husband; he's a bass player too, and would love
to have a five-string...and probably the plasma TV too!

I suppose I should have picked "pay off MOST of the house" but hey...it's all fantasy anyway, so what the hell, right?? :-)

15. What kind of a freak are you?
Gravy on fries...next thing you know, you'll be wanting ketchup flavoured chips!

:P

I always laugh when I hear (a few) Americans say "gravy on fries????" making it sound like what it really contains is yellowcake.

My BIL used to manage a Mary Browns's...I don't even think I was in high school yet. We used to visit my sister and he every Sunday.

I had my fill of their chicken for a lifetime. All free, too. :)

There's this indie Jamaican place down the road. Mostly veg* stuff. I cook a lot, so take-out is a rarity here.

1. Though I rarely have take out, it would either be either Chinese or Vietnamese.

2. A substantial rise in pay

3. Since $100k wouldn't even buy me an outhouse in this city...I'll leave a house out of it.

Travel would be first on the list. Pay off student loan (thank you unsavedtrash!) A newer (but not 'new') hybrid. A horse and all that entails (tack, riding habit, etc), and a couple of parrots (a Cape parrot, a Meyers...perhaps a Moustached Parakeet, or Indian Ringneck). Furniture (I'd shop around the antiques stores), a better tv (nothing too fancy, I don't watch it enough), a DVD-R, laptop...a nice wardrobe, buy gifts for friends. A Celtic harp and lessons.

4. Hyacinth Macaw

5. The Monster at the End of this Book

1. What's your favorite take-out food? Take out? Take it out of what? More seriously, I have takeaway so rarely that I don't know. Back at home, we had takeaway about once a year. If I went well enough in school.

2. If you could change any ONE thing about your job, what would you change? I'm a student, so if I could add anything I would have 50 hour days and a girlfriend to occupy a good 25 of those hours.

3. If someone were to drop $100,000 in your lap on the condition that you BLOW IT ON YOURSELF, what would you do with it? Call me a freak, but fuck that. I don't even WANT a hundred thousand dollars. As far as I am concerned having lots of money would suck; so I would throw it away. It might 'accidentally' land in the hands of a charity that would attempt to give the world a little clean water to drink, but if that was no option I would get the dental I need and chuck the rest away.

4. What's your favorite bird? Kookaburra. Obvious choice; it kills snakes. And Aussie snakes are not nice. At all.

5. What is the first book you remember reading? Hmmmm. I don't remember reading any. I know that I read a lot, and I can remember their plots, but nothing is attached to them in the way of "when did I read this". But I can remember having Lord Of The Rings trilogy read to me when I was five. Well..... I can't remember that much either in all honesty.

22. Chan hates Geese.
1. What's your favorite take-out food?

This Italian place in the center of town. Cheap as heck and the portions are huge. I usually dine in though as my house is under construction and is the last place I ever would want to eat.

2. If you could change any ONE thing about your job, what would you change?

I'd pay standard pay-rate for a barista. (I make $8.42/hr., a decent barista should make $12-$15/hr. as the tips suck.)

3. If someone were to drop $100,000 in your lap on the condition that you BLOW IT ON YOURSELF, what would you do with it?

Assn. of Fundraising Professionals and CT. Assn. of Non-profits trainings.

4. What's your favorite bird?

I don't have one? Geese, however, are vicious and mean and territorial and a properly pissed-off (not hard to do) goose is fully capable of beating you to death. The Romans kept them as guard animals. I'm surprised we don't hear of more geese-inflicted maimings and killings.

5. What is the first book you remember reading?

Brighty of the Grand Canyon.

28. A goose broke the leg of one of the hired hands on my mom's family
farm back when she was a little girl. They are VERY territorial, and this one gander really took a disliking to this guy for some reason (Mom said they never did figure out why; the guy was gentle as a lamb but worked like a horse; my Grandpa thought the world of him) but this gander did NOT and swung its wing and snapped the guy's shin clean in two.

31. I love geese!
For a summer in college I worked in a remote location where I didn't see a lot of people during the day. Each morning, the dining hall would give me a garbage bag full of leftover toast, english muffins, french toast, etc. for the geese. The first time I fed them, I was afraid of them, they mobbed me and I locked myself into a fenced area for protection til they left.

By the end of the summer, we were buddies, and I could lie on my back with a piece of toast in my teeth, and they'd come up and grab it gently. But then I had the problem that they would follow me around campus sometimes. :)
