The day has been calm and the STBE has gone down to Boston for a few days. Life is good. :)

5. If there is a heaven, this is the song I'd always thought I'd hear...
Radiohead's 'Motion Picture Soundtrack'
this is what my twisted mind sees as unsurpassed beauty...
I also consider the 4th Movement of Mahler's 5th Sypmphony to be heavenly...
the music video is here

9. I'm glad you can appreciate it as well.
If I'm in the right mood, it makes me cry...
'Stop sending letters, letters always get burned'
Makes me think of one of the many ex-girlfriends...sigh

years, even, for the same reason. If they've forgotten you, you must forget them.

15. She hasn't forgotten me.
We'll never forget each other.
It wasn't a good relationship, but I never felt about anyone the way I felt about her...
This song, which I think is also beautiful, was what first connected us...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIp--5E3AbY
Definitely one of my favorite songs, if not my favorite.
And it was us, and always will be us.
I guess I can look at the good that came out of her as well as the bad.
We're still friends, at least. Only recently did we devote a night to exorcising our demons.
I've never done that with any ex before, really, and it was really good for both of us.

19. It didn't make you sad?
I don't know how I'd be able to do that, unless a few years have passed. Maybe more than a few. That's also a wonderful song, Elrond. I haven't heard it before.

35. Having heard it, I doubt you'll forget it.
It's always haunted me, from the first time.
Pay attention to the lyrics, they're incredibly moving.
It was sad, but it was necessary...there was incredible amounts of hurt still lingering, and when we finally purged all of that, it was so cleansing for the both of us, we both felt whole again, and more secure in our friendship.
A few years had passed, of course, enough time for us to be able to look at our horrid behavior objectively. She was shocked at some of the stuff she did to me when we were together, lol...she'd say 'I really did that???'
Ah well...memories...good and painful.

My favorite two songs on it, though I like every one of them, are A Case of You, and Love Is Everything. I like Halleluia too.

Canadians have good taste in music, don't we? :D

20. I'm sorry, kiddo, but I have to tell you that she sang flat at least four times in the
first stanza. (I'm cursed with the aural version of perfect pitch; I can't hum an A440 for you, but I can tell when one piano string is tuned half an em too sharp.)

No, when you go to heaven, you want to be able to write songs and sing like this young lady:

22. I do like your song!
I agree that Ms. Lang's live performance was not perfect, but in heaven, mine would be. I think it would take more than a taste of heaven to enable me to actually write any music at all... I have no ability there. Hi, Redstone! :hi:

34. No, you do not have "no ability." Christ, if I can write songs and sell them (which I have
done), ANYONE should be able to.

Never, EVER say to yourself "I can't do that."

Because you can do anything.

Not to be throwing platitudes at you or anything, but what I said above is true. I never studied to be a musician, but I did just that with reasonable success until my physical problems made me stop. I never studied to be a graphic artist, but I've made a damn good living for 14 years making prety pictures for people.

Again: You can do ANYTHING. You just have to want to.

(Except maybe singing; there are some people who just can't.)

31. Bangor, Maine.
This town never changes and Halifax is far more desirable a place to live. I'm not blossoming any more than Bangor is; I expect to be fully whithered by the time my kids finish up with the local schools and I can move away. :(

I heard another voice that could be the next Loreena McKennitt last Sunday. I think she's still in high school, but will go far if she pursues it, I'm sure. A beautiful, haunting voice.
