Without pointing out my newbie status, can anyone tell me how
to post a picture? I see people post that have a picture under their post, not their avatar, but a picture.

I am pathetically asking how to do this?

1. Just type the actual location of the picture.

Like this, but without the quotation marks:

3. I had to ask, too
You have to have your photos on a photo hosting site, like Photobucket, not just on your hard drive. From the hosting site you copy the image code and paste it into your email. Photobucket is at www.photobucket.com. Good luck!

4. Probably, yes, someone can tell you how to do that.
As to your second question, I don't know if you are pathetically asking how to do this - I don't think so. That's a weird question to ask, though, dude.

And welcome to DU! :hi:

If you ask me how to post a picture, I will happily be one of the people who can not only tell you, but will tell you how to do so, and I will try to do it without pointing out your newbie status - though since you've already pointed that out quite clearly by announcing it, I'm not sure why it's an issue with you.

6. Thank you for the welcome
I guess I point it out because I am normally what most would consider computer literate, and I feel a bit silly asking such fundamental questions...

9. Yes, but by announcing it so brazenly you made it a moot issue to ask someone not to point it out
Like saying "Without pointing out that my head is covered in red paint, what's the answer to this question...?"

It's pretty easy.
Use the HTML Lookup Table when you post. It makes it all nice and simple.

7. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

Just right click the pic you want, copy the location and then post that url/jpg in your reply.

Or...if it's on your computer, use a photo storage service.

http://www.photobucket.com etc. There are other free photo storage places too.

Upload your pic to photobucket and copy the url they create for you!

It's free too! ;)

25. Did you register and create an account? And an album 1st?
Also, why not try posting any image here now.

Do a google search for - 'bush monkey' - IMAGES on Google

and then click the image itself and then click on the words at top--> See full-size image.

Copy the url in the address bar at the top, after the pic loads, copy THAT url and paste it in a post here on DU.

http://www.webbusiness.no/webprivat/usa/upfiles/bush_monkey. jpg
(I added the space before jpg, so the pic wouldn't post yet)

EXPERIMENT!! :)

15. You're getting there
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 11:32 PM by Generic Brad
From the HELP menu:

How do I post an image?

There is no special code to post images. All you have to do is type the URL of the image, like so:

If you are using Internet Explorer on a Windows computer, you can find the URL of an image by right-clicking on that image, and then selecting "Properties." Look for where it says "Address (URL)."

--And it also helps if you open up a photobucket account or some other place where you can place your images on an internet server.

And welcome to DU!
:hi:

21. Welcome Texan!
I'm a Texan too.

Just store an image at someplace like Photobucket. They give you the URL for each picture.
Then in your post just put the URL. When it posts it will be the picture. The URL will end in something like .jpg, .gif, .bmp. Photobucket does all the work for you.

Welcome to DU.
Lee

30. Sign up for a free photobucket account
At photobucket.com

Then upload the photos to that account.

Once the photos are uploaded, click on the URL link to the uploaded photo (this will copy the URL) then paste it into the body of your post.

:D
