Wedding Song List - Feel Free to Add to the List
My wedding is coming up in 11 days, and I'm getting together a play list for the DJ. What do you think of these selections?

Highway To Hell
50 Ways to Leave Your Lover
Send in the Clowns
I Will Survive
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love
Under My Thumb
Smack My Bitch Up

5. I Have the Tommy James and the Shondells Version
Not of the Dwarves, though... I'll have to download that when I'm not on dialup!

See my real list to see whether or not my sense of humor is a little warped!

13. Thank You!
I thought the first one was kind of a giveaway...

It does turn out that "I Will Survive" is a popular wedding pick, which makes me wonder if that's not a warning sign right there that maybe someone is having second thoughts.

On the other hand, one of our Dandy Warhols tunes (I Love You) is sort of a creepy stalker song, but we think it's funny.

4. Thanks!
That's not my actual playlist - Loved One and I were coming up with Terrible Wedding Tunes the other night. Not that the real playlist is breath-takingly original:

Pre-Ceremony:

Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33 Camille Saint-Saens/Jacqueline Du Pre

Le Rouet d'Omphale, Op. 31 Camille Saint-Saens

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite #1, Op. 46 Morning Mood Herbert Von Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite #1, Op. 46 March of the Trolls Herbert Von Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite #1, Op. 46 In The Hall Of The Mountain King Herbert Von Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite #2, Op. 55 Arabian Dance Herbert Von Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Ceremony:

Bride's Entrance:

Also Sprach Zarathustra Op. 30 - I. Einleitung Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Bride and Groom Recessional:

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite #1, Op. 46 - Anitra's Dance Herbert Von Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Reception:

Somebody to Love Jefferson Airplane
Somebody to Love Queen
You're My Best Friend Queen
Crazy Little Thing Called Love Queen
Three Little Birds Bob Marley
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face Roberta Flack
Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin
Why Don't You Get a Job? Offspring
Wonderwall Oasis
Volvo Driving Soccer Mom Everclear
I Like Big Butts Sir Mix-A-Lot
Here Comes My Girl Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Every Day Should Be a Holiday The Dandy Warhols
Be-In The Dandy Warhols
Arpeggio Adaggio The Dandy Warhols
Twist The Dandy Warhols
I Love You The Dandy Warhols
Think I'm In Love Beck
Cannonball Breeders
Come Amuro Namie
Brimful of Asha (Fatboy Slim Full Remix) Cornershop/Fatboy Slim
Atom Bomb Fluke
Sure Shot The Beastie Boys
Jelly Roll Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys
Kung-Fu Fighting Techno Remix Fatboy Slim
God Only Knows The Beach Boys
This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) Talking Heads
The Lovecats The Cure
Ojos Asi Shakira
Keep On Rockin' Me Steve Miller Band
Time of the Season The Zombies
I Walk the Line Johnny Cash

It was going to be a lot more Dandy Warhols intensive, but we thought are guests might not be as into them as we are.

8. Hey, I Got Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys
Just not "Bend Over Baby, and Let Me Drive" or "As Long As I've Got a Face, You've Got a Place To Sit."

And I'm on dial-up, people! Didn't I tell you I was marrying for the bandwidth? Yes, we're not cohabitating at the moment, and I'm stuck with dialup at home, because I'm cheap.

15. Oh, There Will Be Pictures
What's the point of having the groom's and bride's best men Jello™-wrestle if there isn't a photographer? Did I mention my best man is brother? And we're from Missouri originally?

And I would so play "Bend Over Baby and Let Me Drive" if Loved One's boss wasn't going to be there:

"Bend over baby, and let me drive (that's right)
Bend over baby, and let me drive (it's so tight)
I've got a salami
I'm wanting to hide
So bend over baby, and let me drive"

The album is recorded in "dynamic highly offensive pornophonic sound."

17. See My Avatar?
She's going to be on my cake, along with Sango and Miroku (couldn't find a 'reluctant bride'). Plus I have something like a million cats. So of course The Lovecats is on! I'll see if I can add Friday I'm in Love - that's a good one.

Janis, though, goes on the "maybe we shouldn't be doing this" list!

20. with janis
i was thinking more along the lines of 'she is totally rad and i love this song' rather than what the connotations might be

then again, i saw 'why don't you get a job' on the reception playlist

this, to me, is a great love song, but it's not so great to dance to (please forgive the horrible emo video, but i wanted you to hear the studio version)

35. Wedding in Cherokee County
There she is sitting there
Out behind the smoke-house in her rocking chair
She don't do nothin'
She don't say nothin'
She don't feel nothin'
She don't know nothin'
Maybe she's crazy, I don't know
But maybe that's why I love her so

Her papa was a midget
Her mama was a whore
Her grandad was a newsboy 'til he was eighty-four
Man don't you think I know she hates me
Man don't you think I know that she's no good
If she knew how she'd be unfaithful to me
I think she'd kill me if she could
Maybe she's crazy I don't know
But maybe that's why I love her so

I'm not afraid of the greywolf
Who stalks through our forest at dawn
As long as I have her beside me
I have the strength to carry on

Today we will be married
And all the freaks that she knows will be there
And all the people from the village will be there
To congratulate us
I will carry her across the threshold
I will make dim the light
I will attempt to spend my love within her
But though I try with all my might
She will laugh at my mighty sword
She will laugh at my mighty sword
Why must everybody laugh at my mighty sword?
Lord, hep me if you will
Maybe we're both crazy, I don't know
Maybe that's why I love her so

I still think it's just a little strange.

My daughter had "In My LIfe" by the Beatles played when she danced with her father. She wanted "It's a Wonderful World" but the band didn't know it (too old a song, by Irving Berlin).
