Mojave Days in Barstow (more kicks on route 66) Dial-up Death warning
Most of the folks that do the historic re-enactments at the Calico Ghost town have left because of the way Calico is being managed.
The former "Marshal" Rick O'shay (His real name) started Mojave Days unofficially three years ago, and two vendors and a few period re-enactment people set up and almost no visitors showed up. The first official Mojave Days was last year and a handful of vendors and a dozen or so period people set up with attendance of 1,200 and lost money again.

This last weekend Rick gave it one more try and 50-60 re-enactment people showed up staging gunfights, old west encampments, a dozen or so food vendors and 30 or so vendors of various goods including Puerco-bellies and company. I estimate the attendance at around 2,000 to maybe 2,500. the event actually made money for the promoters (Rick) and the city of Barstow and a good time was had by all.
Enjoy the pictures.

A couple of the Gunfighters at the end of the day

Quick draw booth (Very cool)

The Teepee of a guy that calls himself Red Weasel. I will have a 16'er like this one next year!!!!!

A couple of "old cusses".

A functioning Chuck Wagon.

The teepee on the left is "Bear" and "Basket's", and on the left is "Weasel's". Confusingly Weasel is standing on the right and Bear is on the left. Nice people, but they are as pale-faced as any "Native Americans" as I have ever met.

My sweety Alison and her daughter Blasie

Some pictures of me and my stock/display.
