At the Troy Burger King on 14 Mile and John R., drive-through customers are usually greeted by a polite voice offering them a combo meal. Lately, the friendly voices have been replaced by the messages of an unwelcome and mysterious prankster.
"The f-word was used," Lt. Gerry Scherlinck confirmed Thursday.
Someone has tapped into the frequency of the restaurant's drive-through speaker, and is using the system to deliver harassing messages to unlucky customers.
"Somebody would order a couple of whoppers, and the voice would come back and say ‘You are too fat, you don't need two, so pull ahead,’" Scherlinck told Action News.
When the restaurant manager came outside to inspect the speaker this week, the infiltrator let him have it. Troy Police say that in his usual fashion, the mysterious voice teased the manager about his body size.
