For the first time, poverty has me really pissed off.
One of the kids broke a key on my piano. It's one thing that it hasn't been tuned in a year - it's quite another not to be able to play a D natural. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

1. Wow, how do you break a piano key?
That must have taken some effort.

2. He didn't break the ivory
but must have pounded the key very hard because the shaft which attaches to the hammer is cracked - a greenstick fracture, if you know what I mean. :(

3. Ah. I take it that this is not a DIY replacement?
:(

5. No, she's an old Steinway grand.
I wouldn't dare.

This is a day for meditation and prayer, or MURDER. I'm not yet sure which.

14. That happened to my piano once.
It's actually a very simple repair - the only problem is, no piano technichian will just do the repair. They always insist on doing a complete tuning.

4. That sucks...and depending on the type of piano you have...
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 09:11 AM by youthere
costly to repair. We have a parlor spinet with the shortened soundboard so when one of the hammer arms broke they literally had to tear the whole damn piano apart (because of the way the keyboard is set into place). The replacement part was only about $6.00 but it cost $65.00 worth of labor. The good news is that if you have an upright or grand the keyboard is set in differently and it's not as costly to repair.
I'm sorry crim son...that sucks..really REALLY sucks.

6. It does!
And you're right - the replacement part might not cost too much but the labor will. Hugs back to you, youthere.

7. Steinway grand?
Sell it for $20K. Then poverty won't be an issue anymore.

I do have an engagement ring that's gonna have to go, though.

9. Ah, well... That's where pathos comes from...
Every artist must suffer for their art.

Bummer about the piano.

10. I'm no artist - I play to relieve tension
and to escape. No fucking escape for me.

11. Aww... That's really a bummer.
I'd take up drinking, but, I can't due to the GERD.

:(

12. That's EXACTLY why I haven't poured myself a drink.
My GERD overcame the meds on Sunday night and I'm deathly afraid of having it happen again. I think what I'll do is eat nothing all day and then drink tonight. I didn't drink for six years when I first got GERD. I rather look forward to the time when the desire to disappear myself passes and I'm once again abstaining. Very sorry about your GERD - I think we might have talked about it in the recent past. It sucks.
