How to find someone
I need some help for Mrs. Giant Robot. To try to make this as easy to understand as possible, she is trying to find a half-brother she has not seen in over 20 years. Apparently last night her ex-stepmother, her father and this woman divorced 20 years ago, called her mother trying to locate Mrs. Giant Robot. This was completely out of the blue. Her mother said she would take this person's phone number and give it to my wife, so that she could decide what she wanted to do. This is reportedly because her half-brother wants to reconnect with her. Mrs. Giant Robot, while stunned, would like to speak with him. Unfortunately, somewhere, the contact number she has for the ex-stepmother is incorrect. What we know is his name, we are not sure what last name the ex-stepmother is using, and what state he lives in. Searching the obvious sites, whitepages.com, anywho.com, etc. has netted us some possibilities, but nothing has panned out. So considering how wise you folks are, I thought I would come to you. Is there any person search websites out there, that are free, that we can use to find this person? Any input would be appreciated, as we have used what avenues we have. Thank you!

3. The phone number you got should give you a state
Are they in the same state?

4. That is just it
we do not find a record for him or the ex-stepmother, at least none that have turned out to be them. Any phone number is either wrong or they no longer live there.

7. If the area code is correct

go to Google and enter his name and the state (not abbreviated) where the area code is located. You may come up with a listing.

9. Have you tried intelius.com
They give background checks and stuff like that. You have to pay to see the results, but you may get some leads. I've never used it so I cannot vouch for it.

12. I paid $50 bucks to a PI one time and gave him skimpy info and
he found the person for me within 24 hours (and he found the name, address, and telephone number). All the information was correct and current. I didn't mind paying it because everything else was coming up a dead-end for me at the time.

15. I also recommend Intelius
I use it in my genealogy searches to track down cousins. For $12.95, you can get the address information, plus the guaranteed latest phone number for that person.

It also provides you a birthdate so you can see if it is the correct person, or just someone with the same name.

16. Great!
Thanks for the recommendation. From what I see, that looks like our only option at this point if she wants to contact him.

18. Classmates.com might help
If she knows what school he graduated from, and about the year, and he signed up in it. I have found a few friends that way.
