I have absolutely no desire to see or go to Puerto Rico.
Not in the slightest. It is the anti-vacation place to me.

I don't see the attraction, when there are so many other places to go - Hawaii, France, Germany, Antarctica, Alaska, Africa, and so on...

Not that this means anything, but Rachael Ray is doing her $40 a day thing in Puerto Rico, and so that made me think of it.

Even if I'd been to every other country, I think I'd rather return somewhere else than go there.

But then again, the chef guy is making little crab pancakes that look really fuckin' good...

So - what is the one place (or places) in the world you have absolutely no interest in seeing?

For me, it's Puerto Rico, Alabama, and the Philippines.

1. Las Vegas. Seems like hell on earth to me.
:puke:

Not a single aspect of any of it appeals to me in the slightest.

2. Oh, forgot about that! That would have been on my list years ago,
but part of me now would like to see the Star Trek casino.

Beyond that few minutes of seeing that, though, yeah, Las Vegas can go fuck itself. Great big environmental wasteland peopled with... well, I don't know what. But it isn't good.

4. well you're missing a damn good thing
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 12:40 AM by pitohui
puerto rico is damn nice, i don't even have words for how impressive it is, their old quarter makes the new orleans french quarter look a little sad by comparison, their beautiful old forts are just out of this world

damn good food too

the rain forest and the dry forest just a short drive away if you're into hiking

the "bio" bay where you glow in the dark as you swim!

the fishing, the birding

i dunno

i think you're missing a good thing, i wish somebody had told me about it years before

i personally think it's nicer than hawaii, but maybe it's because the birds are better, the hawaiian birds are essentially extinct and they are mostly introductions, the puerto rican birds are mostly real and a nice mix of true exotics and our own birds on vacation

check it out, puerto rican tody and you can practically walk up to these dudes in some places

oh here's another photo:

have you ever visited another place where even the slum is scenic, that's la perla from el morro fort in san juan, the picture's a bit rough, in person, the buildings are all different pastels and the sea quite blue although rough -- yeah, a slum on the sea in pastel buildings, got to be only a matter of time before it's gentrified

8. I have no desire to go to China
A friend of mine went there and had a miserable time. She and I have similar tastes so I don't think I'd like it. I also have no desire to go to India. It is way too warm and too crowded for my taste. I'm not a people person; I prefer places sparsely populated.

11. A couple of places:
India - too crowded, too polluted, no thanks.

Egypt - even though everyone else seems to want to go, I have very little interest in it. Again, it sounds like a crowded polluted place. I really don't care that much about the pyramids....just not a big deal to me.

Thailand and Cambodia - I'm actually mixed about this one...on one hand, I have been told they have gorgeous architecture, great food, and lots of nice people. I'm the farthest thing from a prude (really!) but I don't think I could put up with the prostitution...it makes me incredibly sad to see a sex industry feuled by need. I could only stand it for so long seeing old, ugly, rich fucks with pretty young girls who need to eat.

African countries (niger, zimbabwe, nigeria, etc) - also mixed. The corruption, extreme poverty, and violent ways of life turn me right the fuck off. But since I have an interest in entomology, I can't help but wanting to go see and collect specimen.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia....no thanks.

27. Why do you have to mention that the girls are pretty? Would you be as
bothered if the girls were not pretty? Do you think that only the suffering of pretty girls is noteworthy? Lookist pig!

Hold on - this is GD, right? It's not? Never mind...

13. I don't want to see my back yard area
because the pooch has done his thing and expects me to clean up.

Other than that, I might not want to see purgatory.

14. Hawaii and Alaska
Not that they are not great places to go to, but that it's too expensive. My parents want to go to the first, as part of their visiting every state, and they've now been to Alaska twice. I just think they should goto Ireland or Deutschland or England first. For one thing, it would be quicker, and for another much cheaper.

Also for me - NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, St. Louis. Other than a place like DC, Boston or Philly I cannot see vacationing in a city. My family went to NYC in 1980, and I stayed behind. So I would definitely goto Alabama or Puerto Rico before NYC. And like most residents of NYC, I have no interest in seeing Sheridan County, ND (population 1540)

but I enjoyed a week on the island of Vieques some years ago. Very laid back, verrry inexpensive. Didn't have too much fun on PR itself, except for the rainforest.

21. Any winter resort type place
I'll go in summer when it's nice, but if there's snow, forget it. I'd be willing to go just about anywhere else, though, I have such a varied interest in history, food, and culture, that just about anywhere would be nice, even if it were unusual.

Dream places? Ireland, Italy, I'd like to tromp through parts of France (especially significant WW2 sites), oooo Greece, Lebanon (though I may wait for them to rebuild AGAIN, those poor people), Tibet, India, Fiji, many many places in Africa, especially Kenya and South Africa, Peru, Brazil, just about any Carribean island nation, Costa Rica, Mexico, etc etc etc. I have aspirations to be a world traveler, and only a Pittsburgh bus pass to get me there .

22. Nowhere.
I'm interested in traveling to anywhere I can think of. Maybe there is somewhere and I just can't think of it. I'd *rather* not return to the countries I've been to before I do some new ones, but I wouldn't say I have no interest in them.

23. That is unfortunate....
PR has a tremendous amount of natural beauty and history, not to mention great music and food.

But, to each his/her own I suppose. I wouldn't hold it against ya.

26. Orlando, or any other Disney-esque location. Anything mall-like.
I would go to Puerto Rico, and most other places in the Caribbean.

Las Vegas is interesting to see once, as a phenomenon. Not more than that.
