If you could get rid of ONE cable channel (NOT Fox News!!), what would it be??
I mean, just shut the damn thing down for good, and never have it pollute America's glowboxes ever again??

I would pick the Disney Channel. I can't stand more than 5 seconds of that shit without putting the TV on mute. Surprisingly, I can last a minute or so watching it on mute without sound. The WORST kid actors and musicians in America. All of them hit the big-time because Mommy or Daddy is either rich or a celebrity (i.e. The star of one of the shows is Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter). And the producers of the shows seem to serve a nice heaping helping of home-cooked crack to each kid who appears on a show or promo (which is 100 percent of the time). They always sound like they're about to orgasm in front of America. On every single show, it's all fake, overdramatic acting with NO subtlety. This network thinks kids are idiots, and they treat them as such.

And where the FUCK do they originally come up with all the god-awful shit they transmit on that channel?? I thought that shit was lame when it came out around 17 years ago when I was 8. I was too busy watching TMNT and Garfield and Friends to care about anything made by a company who's most famous character I stopped liking when I was 4. I saw the Mickey Mouse ears on the channel's premiere, and I said, "Fuck this." 58 is the number of the devil to me, because it's that shitty channel number on my cable.

What about you??

(NOTE: I basically did this as an excuse to rant about something, thanx.:7)

22. It's true. We seem to have two new ones. But I kind of enjoy watching this chick
http://www.pastormelissascott.com/

She seems to be on 24/7 on one channel. I keep watching, waiting for her to make some real point, but she just goes off on tangent after tangent about linguistic subleties in the Greek and Hebrew.

But REALLY entertaining!!

24. No!!!!! I'd never heard of her until she showed up on my TV
She does seem to grasp the languages, though I must admit I forgot all my Greek as soon as I passed the final--so she could be making it all up.

A porn star you say. Ya know, I think I could see that, now that you mention it.

3. Speed
I have no interest in car racing. Or motorcycle races. Or restoration projects for either of the two.
It's a complete waste of space on my tv. :puke:

Fuel would be a close second. :P

I do have both of those on my cable block list. It's fun when guy friends channel surf looking for them & can't find any of them.

42. I'd pay full price for cable if all I got was the Golf Channel
By far the most fascinating sport ever invented, in terms of physical and mental conflicts. Last Sunday was a treat, watching Mickelson battle his demons over the short putts and flop chips, and then the failures causing him to press and impact his driver over the final holes.

My pick would be any channel that's showing baseball, the ultimate example of group loitering.

8. Easy one - The E! Network
Yeah, sure, you could credit Fox with the merging of tabloid journalism and 24/7 news networks, but there's no one who caters to the papparazzi more than E!.

First off, any network that employs that empty suit fuckin' corporate shill Ryan Seacrest deserves to have their license revoked.

Second, celebrity worship is not a religion (no, L. Ron Hubbard, it isn't). I dont care what everybody else says. We do not, nor should we, care about Britney Spears shaving her head. Britney Spears stopped being relevant 4 fucking years ago.

Third, any network that gives air time to Joan Rivers and pays her huge sums of money to stand at the red carpet of (insert name of self-gratifying award show here) should have their license revoked.

21. Another one - MTV
Honestly, MTV hasn't been relevant since 1986. They show all this stupid bullshit on the station that has nothing to do with music, then they started airing Total Request Live and it all went straight to hell.

Oh, they're also one of the two networks responsible for turning my beloved county into the laughing stock of the country with horseshit like "Laguna Beach" and "My Super Sweet 16". Argh, how I loathe that channel.

How many pink wigs does she need? Do we really want to fund her quest to give a white baby doll to all the starving orphans in Africa? :eyes:

Close runner up: MTV. I knew it well, Horatio. A channel of plentiful music videos and only occasional Real World. Now it must sadly be put out of our misery.

37. Did you happen to catch Disney's "High School Musical"?
I've always made a point of leaving the room when my daughter watches it. (It sounds AWFUL!)

Guess what? My daughter was just cast in her high school production of "High School Musical"....

I'll just kill myself now.

(Although I did volunteer to help build sets.)

To answer your question: I don't like paying for the religious or sports channels. I'd much rather replace them with Sundance or Independent Film Channel.
