Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 03:51 PM by damnraddem
you must have taken the train down from Cuzco, but didn't go on to Arrequipa. Or did you go to Puno and Lake Titicaca.

I spent a night in Juliaca on the trip from Arrequipa to Cuzco, because I didn't know any better -- had I known better, I would have gone on the Puno, and then taken the same train back through Juliaca on the way to Cuzco in the morning.

91. I see I lied
I flew from Lima to Juliaca via Arequippa, which I now see is further south. From Juliaca, 25 hour truck ride with 15 people sleeping in the truck bed, with some straw to cushion us, inhaling diesel fumes when a cover had to be put on when it rained. (only time I'll ever get to sleep pressed against three women!) Then did 7 day raft trip on Rio Tambopata, leaving from Putino Punca (sp?).
After raft, Flight from Puerto Maldanado to Cuzco, then the usual Macchu Pichu thing.

What was your trip?

Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 05:04 AM by Kellanved
It was labeled "Worst town in Germany"; is famous for it's unbroken support for a politician banned from the conservatives because of his anti-semitic remarks (getting banned by them takes serious stuff, I can assure you). It's basically one of Germany's rural commuter towns.

Well, Fulda is a stop of the Berlin Frankfurt Express train - getting there is no problem ($/€ aside). And: It is really north of Seattle.

And cloudy it is. It is a pretty typical example of central rural Germany, nothing fancy. Worst thing is that you might aquire a taste for Ebbelwoi (flat, strong cider) and Handkäs ( whey cheese, vile smell, no fat but tasty ) - as both specialities are virtually impossible to find in the US...

I left at age 4, and don't have any real memories. I have no romantic notions; I'd just like some perspective on places I've lived. It's weird seeing Fulda as central Germany. When I lived there it was eastern West Germany. :D

Next year we should make to the Bay of Whales - the southernmost navigable waters on earth...
