They rip that show every chance they get!

11. But do you still like it now?
I know we have fond memories of shows from our youth, but sometimes when we look back we wonder how we ever liked something.

To each his/her own, I guess. Full House was almost as bad as 'Friends' and 'Home Improvement'. *ducks twice* :D

My faves...

The Simpsons
Family Guy
Good Times
Seinfeld

17. All were before my time, except My Three Sons, and I remember
liking it as a kid, but now I think it's just dreadful.

I think I'd consider I Love Lucy as my favorite, though. I go through periods when I watch what I have on tape and just die!

10. Without cable,
I can't get viewable TV in my downtown Seattle location. I let my cable account lapse about 5~6 years ago, so I haven't watched TV since then. But waaaaay back then, my 2 clear favorites were Barney Miller and TAXI; generally back to back. Seeing episodes coming up for the second or third time, was like seeing the familiar faces of friends after a lengthy absence.

I have a good DSL connection, and my computer resources are adequate for viewing video clips in reasonable resolution. The computer is the exclusive source of my news, and much of my info & research. I'm also building up a respectable collection of DU-worthy DVDs, so I'll probably NEVER bother with TV/Cable/Satellite from here on. But if those two were to be in late night reruns, I MIGHT reconsider.

12. Is Monty Python a sitcom?
I agree that Monty Python is one of the most brilliant television shows ever.

But I'd label it as a sketch comedy instead of a sitcom.

Nitpicking, I know.

14. It was half an hour, so I put it in as a sitcom...
...I think there's been a debate about this before.

If it's in the sketch comedy catergory, I can't think of any others that would fall in that same category. Maybe Laugh-In.

25. True, but the list is still pretty small...
...you could break SNL up quite a bit, and not simply consider it one sketch show, but many, because it went in phases with the different groups of players.

34. I had not heard that. And Yes... I know that there are 2 Mrs Kravitz's
Alice Pearce and Sandra Gould. There are also two Frank Stephens's.

But only ONE Aunt Clara... Marion Lorne made the role her own and William Asher and company decided not to recast the part after her death in 1968. The part of Esmerelda was added so that the series would have another bumbling witch whose spells didn't always work.

on the set, Agnes came up to the whole group and said very loudly, "I think one Darrin was more than sufficient."

Kinda set the tone, don't you think?

is NOT a situational comedy, it is a variety show.

There's another someone mentioned also that is not a sit-com.

...you could call it a sketch show, but that category would have a very small number of participants.

38. I liked "Newhart" more so than the "Bob Newhart Show"
But only after the Kirk character, the guy who was a habitual liar, left the show. "Newhart" really came into its own as a surrealistic show. IMO.
