I learned that today, here on DU. All steps toward a better planet are trumped by procreation. One could be an organic gardening, solar panel having, totally off-the-grid living person, but it wouldn't mean shit if you had a child.

Now, I don't have kids, so I'm not grinding an axe. I also don't plan on having any.

I just think that this is damn stupid. I shake my head at the very argument.

because we need to raise more liberals AND because not having child/children is selfish, and only conservatives are selfish.

Oh, I've also heard (here on DU) that if we don't have children we're dooming the elderly because it's our resposibility to ensure that there are always more workers than retirees so that Social Security will survive.
