In case there was any doubt Ron Artest is a worthless human being

One of Artest's dogs was 'rack of bones'
Kings star's canines spent 77 days at pound since July because of poor care

LOOMIS, Calif. - Dogs owned by Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest have spent a total of 77 nights at the pound since July because of poor care by their owner, costing the NBA star $1,942 in boarding and impound fees, county records show.

Placer County animal control officers have gone to Artest’s five-acre estate seven times in that period in response to callers’ complaints about dogs being loose or not being fed.

Allan Frumkin, president of the Sierra Ridge Estates Homeowners Association at the gated community where Artest lives in Loomis, about 25 miles northeast of Sacramento, said some neighbors stepped in and cared for the dogs themselves.

“It became general knowledge that he wasn’t taking good care of his dogs,” said Frumkin. “One neighbor fed them and bought a watering machine for them.”

The latest incident came last Sunday, when animal control officers took Artest’s Great Dane, Socks, saying the animal wasn’t being fed.

He makes how many fucking millions of dollars a year and can't be bothered to make sure his dogs get fed? Fuck him!

4. Ooh, I hadn't seen that.
http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/120331.html

In October, a caller reported that a "loose pit bull" was in Artest's front yard. In December, officers responded to a call that Socks had been struck by a car.

In a July interview with The Bee, Artest spoke of having seven dogs on his rural estate. Since then, the numbers have dwindled, and Artest conceded Wednesday there have been problems.

Socks suffered a broken leg in the auto accident. And Biscuit never was found after his last escape.

Another dog was killed in his yard, Artest wrote in an e-mail to The Bee.

"My other little puppy was killed by a wild animal up here in Roseville," said Artest, who suggested that a mountain lion or bobcat might have been to blame.

6. To quote Dr Seuss "I meant what I said and I said what I meant."
Anybody who has such means and still treats animals in their care that way is scum.

8. Language is power.
I like to believe in "The inherent worth and dignity of every person".
Not "The inherent worth and dignity of every person except Ron Artest and perhaps Anna Nicole too maybe."

9. I believe every person is born with worth and dignity and some don't act on it.
I have a hard time seeing any dignity in somebody who, having all the options in the world, chooses to leave his dogs unattended to almost starve, play tag with cars, disappear and be eaten by wild animals. (FWIW, Loomis is a rural area and everybody around knows there are coyotes and mountain lions up there. Probably feral dogs too. Leaving his dogs out at night is neglect, even without considering the weather around here lately.)

You need a night out with a large Ohioan that looks very simular to a mythical apeman that roams the Pacific Northwest.

28. Your choice to not venture there does not a "worthless" person make.
He is, and likely will continue to be. Not without inherent worth, but still worthless.

something you just did with regards to Mr. Artest.

15. The difference, as I see it, is this
Mr. Artest is harmful to others. His dogs are neglected, he has a history of violence and losing his temper, including attacking a fan at a game, elbowing Manu Ginobli in the head and breaking a zillion dollar TV camera.

Poor Anna Nicole was a ditz, but nobody ever had and reason I ever heard to to say she'd harmed anybody. She spoke up for animals, as a matter of fact.

Back when she was young and slender I was myself a young, impressionable woman. Said pics made such an impression that I haven't the faintest clue what you're talking about.

Now stop derailing my thread. There are 3 zillion posts here about one dead ex-stripper. This isn't one of them.

20. Possible reasons:
1. He's a sports star. Anybody else with his record would have a few cruelty to people charges, too.

2. He's trying to blame it all on the caretaker.

3. It's Placer County. Most of the "property rights" freaks up there wouldn't care, so it'd be rough to get a conviction.

4. He can afford a better lawyer than the county.

21. Artest last year made $6,842,105.
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 10:33 PM by Nevernose
Average NBA player's salary? 3.7 million dollars (I remember hearing NPR saying yesterday it was 5 million, but Google would never lie to me). Artest last year made $6,842,105, before endorsements.

Seems like this asshole could afford to hire someone full time, w/ benefits, whose sole purpose in life is to take care of his damn dogs. For a tenth of his salary, I'd sleep in the frigging doghouse with them at night.

22. Scum of the earth.
And mentally unbalanced. I have some pity for people like this because they are obviously mentally ill: you can't be this mean, stupid, or uncaring and NOT have something wrong with your brain.

But he should not be allowed to "own" other creatures. Nor, I might venture, should he have kids, but that's a whole sticky wicket I don't want to get into. If you're mean to animals, you're probably going to be mean to people, even your own offspring.
