Any fans here of artists formerly on the Shimmy-Disc label?
I'm talking about Kramer, Dogbowl, Tinear, old-school King Missile...any Shimmy fans in the house?

1. I'm familiar with Bongwater.
I believe that was Kramer with actress Ann Magnusson. Catchy, but not really my thing. Funny, but speaking of King Missile, I just made a reference to "Detachable Penis" here last night. :)

2. D'oh! Can't believe I forgot about Bongwater.
Especially since I have the 4-disc box set. :)

my one r and r claim to fame was recording with Kramer.....

Loved King Missile and other SD bands.... I still have my Mystical Shit t-shirt. Can't wear it in front of the kid, though.

There are at least a few more people here on DU who know about this stuff....there are probably, like 10 of us.... ;)

6. Which lineup(s)?
I never saw the Way To Salvation/Happy Hour/King Missile lineup, but I did see the King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) reunion tour, which was basically John S. Hall and Dogbowl with Dogbowl's backing band.

7. The Way To Salvation/Happy Hour/King Missile lineup.
I saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta, & could barely get out of bed the next day from moshing. Ah, youth...

8. I'm a Bongwater fan.
I have a friend who almost recorded an album with Kramer, but he was too crazy for her, I think.

A real gem is the Orgey of the Dead soundtrack album Kramer released - and when I say soundtrack, I mean just that: dialogue, effects and music. Luckily it's mostly music interspersed with hilarious pronouncements by the one and only Criswell. The kitty-cat was born to be whupped!

11. I'm not sure how I managed to type "Orgey," but...
The Orgy of the Dead album was released on Kramer's Strangelove label - in fact, the catalogue number is Strange-0001. So it was the first and possibly only release on that label. I'm not sure where you'd get it - can't even remember where I got it. It was released in 1995.

12. I wrote to Kramer to see if he could help. Meanwhile...
Have you heard his new "Rope, Inc." project? One of the reviews on his site says it's "part The Cure and part Eno." Sounds good to me.

I haven't heard of it, but I'm going to check it out. Thanks!
