My Idea of Fun...self-imposed "snow day"

It's a slack day for me. I'm building a fold-down desk for Mrs. Amok, and watching some new DVDs. Just finished the new release of Boogie Nights, and now it's "How to Get Ahead in Advertising". About 8" of snow have fallen since 6am, and I'm having a great day indoors with the cats.

The only things I should do are some housework, and get to the gym before 10pm.

So, who else is having a "snow day"?

1. snow day?

I'm from florida....what? I'm in Canada now?? Ummmmm...bring on da snow then!!

2. If we had 8" here,

EVERYthing, and I mean EVERYthing would be closed, streets (ALL of them) closed, and we would be waiting wherever we were for the power and the heat to go off, if it weren't already. NOT fun...

3. I'm jealous ...

The closest thing I had to a "snow day" today was making a large snowball and bringing it into the classroom. I lectured until it melted, then I dismissed the students.


I'm kind of worried about whether I can survive 12 more Tuesdays (keeping in mind that today was basically a meet-and-greet, intro day). A 3-hour lecture, one hour break (during which I have to walk or bus to another campus) and then teach for 2 more hours.

I must have been insane to agree to this.


p.s. we got less than half of that snowfall here in Victoria ...at least, that's how things look up in Gordon Head.

4. Don't be too jealous...

The garage is so cold that I brought the components for Mrs. Amok's desk into the media room for the funal assembly. Once it was all screwed together, there were a couple of joints which needed minor sanding, so I brought in the handheld belt-sander. I swear I used it for a maximum of two minutes, but somehow everything in EVERY ROOM in the house was covered with a fine layer of wood dust.

I've been vacuuming for about two hours, with no end in sight...

5. 8 inches would close everything

here in Maryland. We close everything at the first sight of flurries.
