Fondue recipes?? What's your sign???
We got a new fondue pot for xmas, and I just got some fuel for it today. Found a few cheese and chocolate recipes on the Net, so I am going to start simple with a cheese one with garlic. :P

Anyone else have one of these? I hadn't been around one since my Mom had one in 1974 or so, lol. :D

They're cool, with 6 color-coded forks so company won't mix 'em up! :-)

Gemini.

fondue, with a nice wine, and a warm fireplace... very romantic
I have not one, not two, but THREE fondue pots! For some reason, people keep giving them to me.

9. Libra here
I love fondue! My parents had a fondue pot back in the 70s too...I think they only used it a few times. I guess it was just an appliance fad like so many other kitchen gadgets (the Foreman Grill, salad spinner, potato slicer, just a few that I can think of).

I have a great swiss cheese fondue recipe - I usually just make it in a double broiler but a fondue pot would definitely be more fun - If you like swiss and want the recipe, let me know and I'll go dig it up. It's pretty simple, but I do remember it has Kirsch in it (a cherry/almond type of liquor).

14. Cathedral Mountain Fondue
ok, here it is - Bon appetit!

Cathedral Mountain Fondue

1 lb. grated Swiss cheese
3 T. flour
Garlic
2 T. butter
3 T. chopped chives (fresh or dried)
1 C. dry white wine
Salt and pepper to taste
Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
2 oz. Kirsch liqueur

Mix together the flour and cheese. Melt butter in a fondue pot which has been rubbed with garlic; add chives and saute one minute; add the wine and bring just to a boil and slowly add the cheese, stirring constantly in one direction until cheese is melted. Add seasonings. When bubbling, add Kirsch.

Serve immediately, having ready a supply of French bread cubes and fondue forks or bamboo sticks.

BONUS: This Swiss fondue is in good company with a glass of white wine or a special imported beer.

Yield: 2 cups

11. trof's fondue safety tips
1. If you're cooking meat in the hot oil fondue
DO NOT eat directly from the fondue fork.
Can you say "blistered lip"?

2. Hot cheese fondue and cold beer will form an intestinal plug that will take a pint of Castor Oil and 3 Fleet enemas to clear.

Leo
Can I have the red fork?
I always get the red one.
Thank you.

18. If you drop your bread, veggie, etc.
into the fondue pot you have to gie someone at the table a kiss. My wife and I learned this little tradition in Chamonix having fondue with an English couple who happened to sit next to us. Now our kids intentionally drop their bread so they can give use kisses.
