CNN FLASH: No problems on Delta 43.
This just in-
Breaking News-
No problems on Delta flight 43 from Paris to Cincinatti.
Absolutely none.
Everything is fine.
No worries.
Let me say that again:
NO PROBLEMS with flight 43.
U.S. fighter escort from coast in to Cincinatti, but there are NO PROBLEMS.
Not a thing wrong.
All is well.
Hunky dory.
Initial problems with a woman passenger trying to board in Paris, but she has been cleared and will take a later flight. She had some kind of wires in her coat, but they found it was an electrically heated coat.
Whew.
Quite a scare.
But everything's fine now, folks.
Let us just re-state that.
Everything's A-OK.

Stand by for breaking reports on USAir 38, American 67, United 339, Southwest 902, Northwest 307, and the Maude E. Frickart Storm Door and Airline Company flight 226.51, all of which are expected to arrive safe and sound, right on schedule, but you never really KNOW, do you?

Gotta love CNN.

1. How many more of these...
before Airlines go belly-up?? I just cancelled a flight to Florida for a semi-vacation in Ft. Lauderdale..don't need all that hassle at Airport. Would have spent a couple grand at minimum...FU Florida but Homeland Security says I should be vigilant....so maybe we'll just go to Montreal, only 90 min away by car. It is so nice being in the new American Century...Bon Soir!!

7. Funny you should say that. We're driving to Montreal for a week
and have ruled out flying as well. Not because we are scared of terrorists (we flew to Arizona 8 days after 9/11), but because we are sick of the total bullshit at the airports and the fearmongering in the newspapers. To hell with it, and we also refuse to spend vacation dollars in the U.S. until this foolishness stops.

2. Ahhhh...good ol' fear-mongering...
One of these days we're going to get: "Today, nothing happened. But it could happen any minute now! Stay prepared! BOO!!! See? You flinched - you were unprepared! TRAITOR!"

8. LOL!
That's pretty much it.

"Good chance of a terrattack, but go about your business as usual. Don't be afraid, don't worry, but be cautious and suspect everyone and everything, reporting anything out of the ordinary, but don't be obsessed by it. It's probably just nothing, except that it will happen sometime, and it appears it will be either a bridge, a monument, an office building, or a nuclear power plant, or it might be a school or mall in a smaller town, or possibly the water supply or even the capital, but we don't know and we're not speculating because we don't want people to worry or give the terraists any ideas; that's not to say you aren't safe in your hometown, especially if you're near a possible target, but it might be a good time for a vacation, if you know what we mean, wink wink. We're at orange alert, but that's just to keep us prepared. No worries, except for the high traffic we're getting from al qaeda, which we're taking seriously but don't expect to amount to anything, except, perhaps, the aforementioned terrattack. But it might not. Now here's Tom with the weather.."

3. What a relief!
(sarcasm alert)

How long, how many of these kinds of reports will it take before the majority of passengers are willing to go along with totally unreasonable levels of intrusive questioning? "Willingly" giving up personal information so as to get on an airplane?

I'm renewing my vow to fly less often. Luckily I have a choice most of the time, although twice in recent months I've flown on short notice, once to a funeral, another time a different family emergency. Earlier last year I drove across the country (I live in Kansas) once to Washington DC and then to New Mexico and Colorado rather than fly. Had a great time, also. First trip my 16 year old son shared the driving chores, the second I had some good books on tape to listen to.

And yes, I am aware that driving overall is more hazardous, and I am not and never will be a fearful flier. But I'm not willing to put up with the bullshit of "security" when I don't have to.

10. Me and you, Sheila
I was an airline pilot for over 30 years.
Flying sux today.
I'd much rather drive the 1500 miles from here to Boston, to see my daughter and family, than fly.
1. I always get a window seat.
2. In the smoking section.
3. I can request EXACTLY the meal and munchies I want and it's guaranteed to be good.
4. Books on tape are the only way to fly...um...DRIVE.

4. THIS JUST IN!
The landing was without incident although it was discovered that one of the flight attendants suffered from a "pretty bad" head cold.

The captain reported an unusual amount of dead bugs on the windscreen, although the co-pilot reported that his side looked "pretty much normal, I dunno". The Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Safety Administration, the FBI, and the Secret Service are investigating.

Passenger Wilma Bluefield, grandmother of three, commented that "the bastids ran out of peanuts before they got to our row. I'm NEVER flying Delta again as long as I live".

Stay tuned for Lou Dobbs.

9. I haven't flown in about 5 years
And I doubt I'll be getting on a plane anytime soon. Especially while Bush is still in office. Which means I really hope a Democrat wins in 2004 because I've always wanted to go to Hawaii. :D

11. FLASH!
Southwest Airlines 1973 from Las Vegas to Burbank on Sunday was DELAYED!!

Again Southwest 1973 was delayed on 1/4/04.

Tom Ridge was quick to point out that there was nothing to be alarmed about, but the Department Of Fatherland, Homeland Security will be looking into the delay.

REPEAT, Tom Ridge has stated that Southwest 1973's delay will be investigated.

(this was my flight home from Vegas and it was delayed) hmmmmmmmm?
