I am in central wisconsin in the middle of 30-40 degrees below wind chill. As a result, the high school I teach at was closed today. My son is saving up for a Wii and is about $100 away. His birthday is the 22nd of this month and he typically gets about a $100 when you combine grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. So my wife and I decided to get one if we could and then he could pay us for the unit and we would buy him another controller and a game as a present. So I called the local Game Stop to see when they expect a shipment. The guy said today or tomorrow and they open at 10. It is first come first served. So I went to Game Stop when it opened, was the first one there, and waited for an hour and a half (I worked on my made Guitar Hero II skillz). UPS guy came and HE HAD WIIs. So I got one for the boy. I'm very happy. I don't have to spend a month trying to chase one down at suggested retail (I WAS NOT going to pay $600 on eBay because that is just insane).
So some random highlights of my nerd cred: Saw Star Wars: A New Hope in the theatre when it originally was released (and we had no clue what "New Hope" was). Pre-ordered numerous boxes of Magic:the Gathering so I would have one the day of release. Stood in line for a game system. Oh yeah.
