Wow. It's actually cold enough for school to be cancelled here.

It was -27 F when I woke up. The warmest spot in my house was 56 degrees. In my back hall leading upstairs, it was 42. The furnace can't keep up when it's this cold. The kids are quite pleased to stay home. And already fighting.

I'm not walking across campus in this cold. Not when I'm still getting over a cough and cold air is an asthma trigger.

I teach part time, so I'm off. Our temps were hovering around 0, but wind chills are -30.

My furnace is running almost constantly. I'm getting some good solar rays coming in my south facing windows and I think that is helping keep it bearable in here.

It was only six below when I woke up but we have dangerous windchills in the -20-30 range. Too cold for kids to stand outside waiting for the bus.

The sun is out but it's only warmed up to two above.
