I am washing clothes tomorrow, hanging them on the line outside.
I do not have a dryer, never wanted one.

I do love the smell of clothes when I bring them in.

1. I'd prefer the clothesline, too
though winter is a bit of an issue here...;)

The apartment that I live in now actually has one - I've never lived in an apartment before that has one, mind you it's an odd little building. And considering the neighbourhood, I don't have an concerns of clothes being taken. It's a very relaxed little pocket in the city.

I hope the couple next door aren't out there with my clothes; they'll have them smelling like dope in no time...:silly:

2. a damn sin in my opinion
but then I live in Arizona. Still, my good friend from Germany doesn't use one either!

My washer is about to croak and I was rather dismayed to realize that the energy ratings for new washers are majorly based on the fact that the more water they can spin out, the less drier time required rather than the amount of energy they used themselves.:eyes:

3. I've done laundry in the bathtub many many times...
s-q-u-e-e-z-e it out, wrap in towels and stomp on them, then hang it in the doorway with an electric fan blowing on it.

This was when I didn't have a washer, and no money for the laundromat.

4. We had a guest stay over for a few weeks and she just couldn't get over the fact
that we didn't have a dryer.

She couldn't understand the concept of hanging clothes on a line or a hanger and just waiting for it to dry.

5. bathtub laundry - ugh
for traveling or emergency, yeah but MAN what a lot of work. And when they talk about boiling clothes and using a washboard...well those don't sound like "good old days" to me at all.

She washed with it, never trusted a washing machine.

8. I have an old one too - hanging as decoration above my machine!

I have used it, and that gave me even more appreciation for the machine!

I hate how much water it wastes but I could not wash levis every week by hand even if I was paid CEO wages.

7. I use one outdoors in the summer and ...
one in the basement near the furnace for winter. I hang up towels, socks and shirts that require ironing, mostly. And it adds moisture to the house, which we really need this time of year.

With three kids, there is no way I can completely abandon my dryer. I just have too much laundry.

9. I have pretty much quit doing kids' laundry - no reason they can't wash
their own clothes. Even my teenage boys! And they have gotten pretty good about actually planning ahead - pretty rare for them to be hanging clothes on kitchen chairs on a Sunday night anymore.

10. O yes, three kids would do that.
My mother used to have such huge wash day.

Mine is big because I was to lazy to wash sooner.

All the lines will be full tomorrow.
