Lieberman discusses his "Bob Dylan" phase
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 01:28 PM by rumguy
"Lieberman has spent most of his professional life in politics, but there's perhaps one aspiration he might have enjoyed pursuing. 'I went through a Bob Dylan phase,' he said. 'One of his tours was called The Rolling Thunder Review — when Joan Baez was with him and people would come and go. It would have been fun to have spent a few months with Dylan on The Rolling Thunder Review.'"

3. I'm sure Bob would love to hang out with Joe
who was quite possibly the only human to go thru the 60's without smoking herb ONCE. Oh yeah, he'd be a real hit with the fun-loving, free-wheeling types.

Go to hell Joe.

Joe...and Keith Richards....

No, I guess I can't see that one...

5. Maybe Bob would serenade him with "Masters Of War".
Or:

"You've got a lot of nerve
To say you are my friend..."

6. Lieberman in disguise with glasses
"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

11. Trying to get some of the Jimmy Carter magic to rub off on ya, Joe?
Next time, try a current pop act to reference for a CYA maneuver.

12. I think Smokin' Joe is in his "Pat Boone: In A Metal Mood" phase now
But just for old times sake... HEY JOE:

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
People’d call, say, beware doll, you’re bound to fall
You thought they were all kiddin’ you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin’ out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You’ve gone to the finest school all right, miss lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you’re gonna have to get used to it
You said you’d never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He’s not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain’t no good
You shouldn’t let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a siamese cat
Ain’t it hard when you discover that
He really wasn’t where it’s at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They’re drinkin’, thinkin’ that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you’d better lift your diamond ring, you’d better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can’t refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You’re invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

13. Lieberman discusses his Ministry phase:
"It was quite interesting, touring with Mr. Jourgensen and Mr. Baker. Very nice fellows. They forced me to snort cocaine. I didn't like it at first - I got some all over my new tie - but then they started chunking on 'Jesus Built My Hotrod' and I must admit, my foot started tapping. Sort of. My wife found me wandering the streets of Austin, singing, 'ding-dang a-ding-a-dang-a-ding-dong, dinga-dinga-danga-dong...why why why why why baby...sicky sicky from within...' "

15. Prior to that, I spent the 1980s so "wasted" as the kids say today - -
- - that I don't remember much except this kind of vague recolection of dancing naked on stage at Yankee Stadium, "riffing" - - that's what musicians call "improvising", or so I've been told - - "riffing", as I said, with Liza Minnelli and the Sex Pistols. I believe the tune we were singing was "Archary in the U.K." At least I think that was the song. Anyway, I always like that particular one, because it's got a darn good beat and you can dance to it.
