Any DUers own a 93 or 94 Toyota Land Cruiser?
I have a question about its service history. I'm thinking of buying one, but as they weren't available through Toyota Canada, I'll have to import on from the US.

1. I had one, I think a 1990
but I can't remember. It was the year before they came out with the V8. I do not know what you are looking for but I can tell you that I NEVER had to do a thing with it until I hit 100,000 miles. I pulled a 2 horse trailer with that little engine, constantly was driving on my rough, gravel roads and as long as I had it the all wheel drive was sufficient enough that even in deep snow I never had to use the 4 wheel drive. Don't know if that helps but that is my experience. The only thing I would add is that of all the vehicles I have owned that remains my very favorite.

2. Thanks!
I'm specifically looking for a 93/94, because of the optional locking differentals offered on those models. I'm trying to find out what kind of issures there are with any driveline leaks/seals pertaining to those options.

We have two Toyota 4x4s now--I'll never use anything else for light-duty hauling and relaible commuting!

3. My wife has a '93 Cruiser, bought in '94.
silver and red. Has about 198000 miles. We have had brake jobs three times, transmission once(about $4500) and AC compressor twice.(about $800 rebuilt, each time). Gets twelve mpg in the city, 17 on the road. Carried my four kids all over Texas and New Mexico, never left us stranded. Upholstery still looks like new. Still doesn't burn any oil. Still looks sharp.

4. Thanks for the heads-up
I have heard about expensive A/C compressor rebuilds in those. Luckily, we seldom use A/C here.

Do you have the locking diff option? any problems with diff seals in it?

6. Diff seals
replaced electively during transmission repair....Otherwise, no problems.

9. It really is. Very comprehensive and accurate.
I've used it as grounds for my last two car purchases and found them dead on accurate.

built in 1950 by Studebaker so I don't think I can help much.
