4. That was the most amazing halftime show I've ever seen
and I've been watching the Super Bowl for a long time now...

Prince still ROCKS. Just keep asking him back, year after year -- nobody's going to top that.

12. Are you still hubbyless this weekend JRB?
I thought you were going to be watching over at your friends' house - or are they letting you post during the game?

16. He's still not home
I was going to go to the pub, then I decided it was more fun to sit here and do laundry while I was watching the big show. Plus, then I could dance all over the family room to Prince without the entire pub witnessing such a spectacle!

How's it going, woman? Did you all have fun?

Julie

p.s. He even sang my favorite song of his -- "Baby, I'm A Star".

21. We watched the halftime show
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 09:05 AM by Patiod
and the 3rd quarter - once the Colts were clearly out in front, Ralphie put on "The Devil Wears Prada" (SO doesn't like football all that much). Just as I was going to bed, we saw that "Globe Trekker" was doing an hour on Venice, my favorite city, so I got back up and we watched that. So I'm pretty tired (fortunately, not hungover though).

Prince sure did rock, though

23. That was the Florida A&M University marching band ...
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 09:22 AM by CarolinaPeridot
flags and all , they are a HUGE Band, they performed at a band competition that I competed in during my 11th grade year in high school in 1996.

But performing on the same field as PRINCE !!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have retired - I don't think anything could top that - nothing could top that ! Being a band geek and a hard core music fan I think those kids were incredibly lucky last night. Playing the music to PURPLE RAIN while PRINCE is on stage playing the guitar !!!! I would tell my kids , grandkids, great grand kids and so on forever ...

to those that influenced him.

20. You know just about every concert I've ever seen has some sort of cover in it
I thought the Proud Mary interlude was excellent - nothing wrong with including that in the performance.

19. You got my vote - I loved that it was just Prince and nobody else but Prince
no mash-up of two dozen plus popstars of the moment honing in on the classic music of an extremely talented musician. This is what halftime shows should be - spectacular of one of the best talents out there today (and still an amazing guitar player). I loved the fact that he was singing 'Purple Rain' while it was pouring down rain.

I almost thought he was going to sing '1999' - he played the intro to it and I swore he said he was never going to play that song again especially since it is about 8 years out of date.

28. I saw him on his last tour....
And his perfomance and that of his whole band made me want to just throw away all my musical instruments and equipment and never pick them up again. Just totally blown away. I mean literally a jaw dropping performance from first note to last. My only gripe was the whole concert was like one long medley. Most of the songs weren't played all the way through. Still, an amazing performance.

29. I agree, it was awesome
U2 did a good half-time show in 2002, but it was sad, because of 9-11.

Prince rocked the house! Plus, he did so in the pouring rain.

And of course he sneaked in something controversial from under that blowing sheet--OF COURSE he was going to do something controversial!

32. Purple rain, purple reign.
He has the most amazing collection of talents, including being an outstanding showman.

I've never seen a halftime show that was more than half-baked. His show was far better than the game itself.

Only took 'em fucking twenty years or whatever to figure that out. :eyes:
