Somebody dumped a dog on my street today.
She's sweet. She's got puppies someplace, probably sold already. No collar, no tags, nobody claiming her.

If she goes to the shelter, she's going to die. I can't take her.

A neighbor is walking her door to door to see who she belongs to, but nobody has seen her before. We think somebody dumped her on our quiet little street, she doesn't look familiar.

I hate people.

1. Can you identify her breed? Would a breed rescue take her? nt

2. She's a great big rednose pitbull.
I have no idea. I'll talk to the neighbor girl when she gets back from looking for her people/listening for hungry puppies. If she can keep her in her yard long enough (I can't- my fence is more holes than fence and she can't come inside with the boy and the cat) I'll see what I can turn up.

3. If you're sure of the breed, there should be rescues that would take her. nt

4. I'm 100% sure of her breed.
The trick would be finding a rescue with an opening. Pitties in trouble are easy to find but hard to place so it'd be hard to find someplace with room.

I'll talk to the neighbor girl when she gets back and see what we can come up with.

5. Is it because she's a pit that you think a shelter would euthanize? nt

6. And because she's a big adult dog and not cute.
Like most shelters, our local one has more pitties and mixes than they can place.

7. Here is something we can agree on.
Assholes. Anybody who could just dump a dog (or cat or anything) deserves to have the same thing happen to them.
