When did the Seventies take place?
I just got a leather jacket for Christmas,
I want to paint a swoosh on my camary,
so I can be just like Starsky!

3. And big collars
with low neck lines (top three buttons left undone). Pants too short and too tight. Sigh, and then disco replaced music. Long live the 60's and early 70's.

2. The Seventies
I've always though they were from about 1975-76 to 1979. Punk appeared in '79, and that means '80's to me.

It was only about 3-4 years of disco (thank god...).

12. In New York, perhaps it did
I first heard it on college radio in the midwest in '79 or so.

But the midwest is always behind. I think the '70's hit the small town I grew up in around 1987. They will probably be discovering rap music any day now...

5. 1971-1980
Just like the 21st century, the decades start with the year 1 of the decade, not 0.

7. 1973-1982
(Culturally and economically speaking)

A time of economic troubles, nostagia for a pre-1960s America.

The decade when long hair ceased to mean something.

The themes we associate with a decade usually don't take shape until after the round number of the decade has started, and lingers into the next decade. Something like this:

1960s: 1964-1972
1950s: 1954-1963
1940s: 1942-1953
1930s: 1931-1941

So, we should be starting a new decade about now. Does anyone see it?

8. Why do I keep missing decades
I was too young to remember much of the 50's.
I was locked in my room during the 60's (that evil rock n' roll ya know)
I was buried in books during the 70's.
I was drunk during the 80's.
I was sobering up during the 90's.
It's 2004??? Where does time fly?
