Another good liberal band - Travis
For those of you not familiar, Travis is a British band that sort of sounds like Coldplay without the innovation. Or, to put it another way, Coldplay is what you get when you cross Travis and Radiohead.

Anyway, I just got their latest CD, "12 Memories", and it contains 2 very good anti-war songs, "Beautiful Occupation" and my favorite, "Peace the F*ck Out":

"You have a voice - don't lose it
You have a choice - so choose it
You have a brain - so use it
The time has come to
PEACE THE F*CK OUT"

You can hear smaples here: http://www.travisonline.com/

1. I loved their last two albums...this one?....not so much...
There's no immediate hooks or catchy songs. At least not up to the infectious melodies of the last two albums. I don't require bands to be catchy but if it's what I listen to that particular band for, then it definitely helps.

And I would say Travis is any more or less innovative than Coldplay. I like both bands, but neither one are reinventing the musical wheel.

2. It grew on me.
I put off getting this for a long time because I thought "Re-Offender" was mediocre. But that song grew on me, so I got the CD, and it's growing on me too.

I liked their last CD a lot, but it was a little too happy for me. ("Flowers in the Window"?)

3. I like the fact that they are occasionally happy in their tunes...
The incessant mopiness of Radiohead has turned me off. So since I miss that bands former catchiness and willingness to crack a smile and come up with a decent melody, then Travis to me is the next best thing.

4. Excellent group!
I like all their stuff. How come they're not more popular?

5. AFAIK, they're socialists. Although, being from Glasgow myself,
I can say safely that a good 80% of the population there is.

Ha! This is dead on.

Or perhaps Travis is what you get when you cross Coldplay with Wilco

...and drain any originality.

10. I like all three
...but I miss the days when Radiohead used to think melody was important, too. I kind of agree with the poster above, that Travis has the most heart of the three bands. Radiohead has the most intellect, and Coldplay is somewhere in between.

11. I like Coldplay
I thought their last album (the one before the live one) had some catchy tunes on it. I like all three bands.

13. I Love "The Man Who" album but ..........

I don't think the group has progressed since that album, it's still their best work, IMO........
