I need your help!
One of the things I like best about the Underground is the help I get from you all.

Here is what I need:

My assistant was shocked when I told her that Karl Rove is the king of dirty tricks and that he stole some democratic letterhead and used it to invite some unsavory guests to a democratic function.

She told me that cannot be true. Am I hallucinating or didn't this actually happen?

Could somebody please give me a link to a source that a tried and true Fox News viewer might acknowledge?

Many thanks!

1. This story is very familiar to campaign staffers.
The lesson is, never trust a volunteer. Never leave a volunteer alone in a campaign office. Here's a story from the Washington Post in which Rove acknowledges and admits the dirty trick.

"But Rove acknowledges that, in 1970, he used a false identity to gain entry to the campaign offices of Illinois Democrat Alan Dixon, who was running for state treasurer. Once inside, Rove swiped some letterhead stationery and sent out 1,000 bogus invitations to the opening of the candidate's headquarters promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing."

"It was a youthful prank at the age of 19 and I regret it," Rove says.

Print it up and give it to your assistant.

3. I actually first went to the bookshelf, surprised I wasn't beat to it.
I couldn't recall what book I read it in first, but then I figured it was probably some lefty author that couldn't be trusted by the assistant anyway, so that's when I hit the newspapers.
