9. Well, try it once when she's in her teens
If she just gives you that annoyed teenager :eyes:, then you're golden and can keep using it.

If she starts railing about how you'll ruin her life and she'll hate you forever and on and on...I wouldn't do it again.

16. I'm sure they have sperm donors (formal or no) in New York.
A couple I worked with was going to use donor sperm from one partner's brother to insem the other partner, that way they'd both be related to their kid. Unusual, certainly, but a pretty cool idea, I thought.

33. That's a good way to go about it...
Too many prospective parents try to adopt kids when they are either not emotionally or financially ready for it, and get rejected. The emotional ups and downs associated with this can really wear on a couple, plan well ahead, and give yourself time to meet any requirements necessary to be able to adopt, and you will be successful and be a good parent as well.

25. When you have a child in your life,
you'll likely want the best for him or her as they grow to adulthood.

While it's a fine cultural statement you're considering, no one should have to live their life as someone else's socio-political commentary. If the child grows to seek a career in sciences, politics, or to succeed in business; he or she would be stigmatised and find that coworkers and academia were disinclined to take one seriously with such a name.

But privately, as a nickname, anything you call your child with affection will not harm their self-esteem. It's all in how you say it and how you value your child.

i think i might name her kennedy or cameron as a first name. gender neutral. though trends in names change. so who knows.

34. Guess it depends on how its used...
Also how it could be misused by kids in school and stuff if they learn about the nickname. Its cute to say when its family or close friends who say it, but can be used as an insult as well.

you can definitely call her that for the first three years since most people don't really develop long term memory until they reach the age of 3.

My daughter is 6 already and I still call her chickenbutt. She doesn't seem to mind yet but if it leads to therapy some day then the introspection will probably be good for her anyway. :D

I call Dropkid Stink butt and also Monkey Back (she's got a hairy back). It's actually to the point where I over heard a neighbor kid calling her chicken and she said "I'm not a chicken, I'm a monkey so mlllla (sound of a tongue being stuk out)".

I was called squeekbomb when I was kid (I had a VERY high pitched voice and was usually always shrieking about something or other), never bugged me. Though it's funny now because I have a pretty raspy low voice (think kinda like Kathleen Turner, with lots more swearing and a very slight Pittsburgh accent).
