Today in history 1-24

1978, workers at EMI's record pressing plant refused to press copies of The Buzzcocks forthcoming release 'What Do I Get' because of the title on the B-side 'Oh Shit.'

One EMI employee was quoted as saying, "Fuck that fucking bullshit. Those motherfucking Buzzcocks aren't going to fucking get their fucking record printed. Fucking, fuck fuckity fuck".

Below, the Buzzcocks as they are today. The now go under the name Littlebluepillcocks.

1941 - Happy Birthday to Neil Diamond

Diamond is said to have a 6 foot, 14 carat gold, diamond encrusted menorah bought with his earnings of his very popular Christmas CD releases.

Smoke a joint, spark up a bowl, pack the bong (or get pregnant), 85 years ago today, Christian K. Nelson patented what is to become The Eskimo Pie.

1941 - Happy Birthday to Aaron Neville.

His voice sounds like a 3 year old little girl and he has some massive spot above his eye that gives me the heebie geebies, but ummm. I'm not gonna tell him that.

Just kidding, I like the dudes voice

1989 - Republicans mourn as one of their "favorite sons" dies.

Yes, Confessed serial killer Ted Bundy was put to death in Florida's electric chair for the 1978 kidnap-murder of 12-year-old Kimberly Leach.

As many have pointed out, being a murderous, lying, slime bucket, Republican asshole isn't the only similarities george and Ted have in common.

1848 - James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget at Sutter's Mill in northern California, sparking the gold rush of '49.

I for one am thankful he did.

1981, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith was hospitalised after being involved in a crash on his motorcycle.

I guess that shooting heroin and coke, motorcycles and weighing 98lbs don't mix.

And speaking of speed-balling (shooting coke and heroin)... John Belushi would have been 58 today.

1986 - Voyager 2 makes 1st fly-by of Uranus, finds 10 previously unknown moons.

Millions of Jr high school boys heads explode by these headlines...

1998, Oasis went to No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'All Around The World'. The longest running-time for a number 1 with a total duration of 9 minutes 38 seconds.

Interestingly enough, 9 minutes and 38 seconds is the EXACT amount of time it takes to break a branch off of a tree, whittle the end to a sharp point, push that end into one ear, through the eardrum, completely through the brain, through the back of the other eardrum and out the other side.

Or use a pencil and get the job done before the first verse is over:

And why are you happy about the California gold rush?

But I thank you for resuming this great thread!

And I am glad for the goldrush because I like Yosemite Sam. LOL Don't ask me, I was born this way.
