Poll question: Do you have a TV in your vehicle?
Been noticing that nearly everyone I pass has one. I'm sure it's handy for distracting kids, but also distrubing that we rely on it.

3. I used to, wife still does.
Point of contention between us. I take lots of road trips with my kids, and originally bought it to help them be "not bored" during those marathon 10 hour drives. I noticed pretty quickly, though, that we stopped interacting once the TV went in...so I had it removed. I'd personally rather have them watch the scenery and talk about the places we're driving through. I've since replaced that vehicle with one equipped with a giant glass roof, so it's not even an option anymore.

Unfortunately, my wife grabbed the box and went over to Circuit City one day while I was at work and installed the player into her minivan. I was a bit irked later, but what was I to do? I think it's a bad idea, and she thinks its harmless. The kids love it, and I just make sure that ALL long road trips now happen in my car (which works out since I get better mileage anyway).

4. How am I supposed to watch TV while driving?
As it is, I can barely keep my vehicle in control while smoking a bowl and handling a 40 oz. Add a TV to the mix and things could get dangerous!

5. Do ceiling-mounted DVD players with very small screens count?
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 09:28 PM by Seabiscuit
My Toyota Sienna minivan came with one - good for keeping my 2-year old occupied for a while on long trips, but that's about all.

N.B.: I'm not sure how to vote until you answer my question above.

6. Good God, no. The Little Guy can look out the window at the world
when we travel.

Right after he was born (C-section), I took him for a 45-minute walk around the hospital, stopping at each window to show him "that big, big world out there," and he's never stopped being tantalized by that world.

7. Yes.
My saturn wagon came with a flip down screen, a DVD player, and a pair of wireless headphones.

Great for trips with the kids.

17. Gee, mine barely came with tires. What a difference a few years make.
Nah really, I like my car, but hooking the ipod up to my car stereo is plenty for me. :)

The kids aren't allowed to watch it on quick trips around town.
