H&R, that is.

Anyone using them for tax return preparation this year?

4. I'm not sure who we are using yet.

But here's the mess we're in:

We have to file in both NY and New Jersey.

Just bought our first condo, so there's the property and monthly fee refunds to consider.

Legally, we're not married, but in NJ domestic partner couples, from what I've heard, can file jointly with the state. Mr. JackBeck pays more than me since his salary is double mine, so how does that work out as far as refunds if we don't file jointly?

I have a tummy ache when I think about what our filing experience might be like this year. We know a couple of other gay couples, so we're going to ask for advice.

6. Yikes! I'd ask around for a recommendation for a good accountant.
Last year was the first year we were reasonably uncomplicated and I was able to use TurboTax. We'd gone to an accountant for several years previously (not H&R Block, though. ;) ) Filing in two different states is especially unfun.

7. That's the part I'm not looking forward to.
I figure after this year, next year will go much smoother.
