Ebay spoof I almost fell for.
Just as a warning to others:

Got an e-mail this afternoon telling me I'd qualified for the Silver PowerSeller program. I'm currently a Bronze, and on the verge of qualifying for Silver, so it seemed totally legit. Looked very official, and everything. So I clicked on the link (dumb, I know), and it asked me for my Ebay name and password. I was just about to put them in (dumb again, I know!), when my web browser turned the page black with a pop-up message that this site was a suspected spoof. ???!! I'd never seen that happen before.

I went back and took another look at the e-mail, and wouldn't you know it, the salutation was "Dear eBay member" rather than my name, which is one warning flag right there - and oddly enough, the "To" header was not to my e-mail address, though it ended up in my mailbox anyway. Then I finally got smart and checked the "My Messages" on Ebay's site itself, and of course, there was no copy of this.

If my browser hadn't warned me, though, I would have blithely put in my name and password. And I routinely warn people about this kind of thing, because I usually know better. Whoever's sending these is doing their research and picking people who are on the verge of qualifying for PowerSeller status or ready to move up a level, so they'd be expecting a message like this.

Just a heads-up for everyone.
