38. So true, FSC
But we still need more rain, and lot's of it.

But the reprieve is nice. Over a week of dreary, dreary days puts one in the dumps, that's for sure.

7. Opposite here
Cold, 8 inches of snow, and one of my dogs was doing a little "my paws are cold" dance when I took her out this am.

You guys have had days of nasty weather, you deserve a break.

Enjoy!

9. Thank you.
Give your dog a hug for me, one of my dogs would do same dance.

She hates wet ground of any kind.

I hope ya'll have blue skies soon.

I would still like to have a little snow.

8. I woke up feeling strange this morning
I couldn't figure out what was wrong, then it dawned on me, the sun was in my face.

11 days without sunshine.

I'm going out to soak up some much needed Vitamin D. :D

10. It was strange this morning, the room was bright with sunlight.
The cat woke me up jumping around the room, she wanted to go out.

She is now sitting on one the deck chairs, the animals missed the sun.

I think it will be only be for one day, rain is coming back.

My budgie was singing up a storm.

I just opened all the windows to air out the house while I've got the chance. Jim Spencer says more clouds on the way. :(

It's starting to cloud up a little already, but still not bad

I know it's snowing in Colorado today so that storm system will probably head this way.

It's winter! for real this time I guess.

:woohoo:

Just hate the COLD rain. Hate anyone getting the ice.

24. The only time we had a lot snow that I can remember was when I was 5 years old and when I was a in
high school.

I am talking about a lot of snow for here.

We would be a mess if we had any real amount of snow.

27. I Bet
It's amazing that just 3 hours from here, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where I went to school and lived for a while. They get a lot more snow than here in Ft. Smith. The river and the hills between here and there are sort of a "barbed wire fence" I guess for a lot of winter weather. Although when we get it bad, it can be pretty bad (Ice)

Snow, we get a few times a year, but it always melts quickly

Houston humidity is about 10 times worse than our humidity here.

That is why we have AC here.

I wear shorts and a straw hat in the summer, no long pants for me.

33. We Have AC Here Too
trust me it's plenty hot

usually break the 100 mark for weeks at a time, but the humidity usually goes from 70% down to about 40% when it's really hot for a while, it dries up all the moisture, sometimes even down lower in humidity.

At that point it's usually around 105 or so and any relief is welcome, even if it's just a lowering of the humidity.

The AC runs from May to October usually here

Heat from November to maybe April.

I think we have more variations in weather than you would down there, but we don't have Hurricanes, just the remnants of them in the form of flooding rain.

about the hurricane that hit Galveston, and really Houston some too back in early 1900's

Evacuating Houston, not an easy task.

37. You are not kidding.
It was crazy here.

We stayed, my old house is strong.

I had several people over, we had a full house.

They had pets, we have pets, the animals didn't like it.

The neighborhood was mostly empty, very quiet.

We walked down to I-10 and gave water to people stuck in their cars.

If that storm would have hit Houston, the section of I-10 by my house would have flooded with cars full of people.

We had our little boats ready to rescue people.

Now with all the crap built townhouses with so much glass, three stories tall, it will not be pretty.

29. Will that mean flash floods?
I was out there for the very first time in November. I took a drive east from Mesa into the Superstition Mountains and, I think, I remember seeing flash flood warning signs.

Your area is beautiful....I loved it.

41. Beautiful in Amarillo
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 07:23 PM by TheCentepedeShoes
Sunshine and blue sky. Mr 'pede thought he'd shovel the driveway. That idea lasted about 2.2 minutes, the time it took me to heat some water in the nuker for a cup of tea. Decided to try to back out the car anyway, which went fine.
We went for a drive thru the neighborhood which is just gorgeous with the snow. Brother in law called from Delray Beach, FL to say a Fox news guy was hanging out at one of our donut places, giving weather reports and harassing the locals. Informed dear BIL in a snotty voice that we don't watch Fox.
