They published my LTTE today and I am now the hero of the
high schoolers. Wonder if I can get them to wash my car?

1. Isn't it really cold out today?
Do you want little teen icicles in your driveway?

Sure it's better than a lawn jockey, but it's a bit tacky.

13. Why thank you, bi_baby.
I figure now I have the teenagers in the palm of my hand, right?

I can't tolerate adults being nasty or intimidating to kids. I never did it even when I was a 5'2", 110 pound 21 yo right out of college, and there is no reason for these men to do it.

It smacks of insecurity and extremely small...well you know.

I hope they are simmering with resentment right now because then it's MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Sounds like you made yourself a couple new pairs of anatomical earrings.

I just got a call from the PTA President and she was dying. She kept saying 'you're so brave, you're so brave'.

Me: Are you kidding? What can they possibly do to me? TP my house. Bring. It. On. I've been TP'd by the best. (Namely, her son)

I am a hero. I am a hero.

At least to the teenagers. They want to get t-shirts that say "Mrs. G is da bomb".

28. You want to hear something unreal?
I was talking with a couple of friends over the weekend and they were talking about the last PTA meeting where the principal was verbally abusive to the kids. (High School, so there are officers from the student body who attend) Apparently, a bunch of them went to get coffee to discuss it!!!!

I was flabbergasted. I couldn't believe someone didn't call her on it. And, then I realized that everyone (except me, apparently) is terrified of this woman.

What kind of an example is that setting for our children?

which deals with people's responses to Franco era fascism, and I thought about how difficult it must have been in the 30s and 40s for people to stand up against true evil... you would think it would be easier for folks in this period of time to stand up to the less deadly forms of evil...emotional brutality and intimidation being one.

It's very hard sometimes to be the only one willing to speak up. Good for you!

45. Not worried.
It's been my experience that bullies back off when taken on.

You know, as a good lib, I've tried to raise my kids to fight injustice. Even if it's something about which they can't personally do anything, at least feel the righteous indignation. What kind of a hypocrite would I be if I let these people get away with this?

The APA, (whom I detest, as we all know) gave a detention to one of TeenMidlo's friends for something ridiculous and then came up to her later in the day and said "You know *****, I've been calling your mother all day, she doesn't answer the phone" (translated, your mom is a bad mom because she should be home waiting for me to call) Trouble is, that particular mom was killed a year ago.

How shockingly incompetent is that? How about doing your homework there, APA?

44. LOL. I know what you mean.
I sent an email this weekend to the one administrator I wasn't referring to.

I hope they see themselves. I *know* it is the talk of the school because the kids were so pumped and I even got a couple of calls from teachers, so it's not just the kids who dislike them.

One thing administrators don't seem to get is that people who live in neighborhoods form friendships and as a result of said friendships, they talk.

Coming into this neighborhood (and it really is a neighborhood school, if it snows, the kids literally all walk home) and treating the kids like this was bound to backfire. It's not as if we don't socialize with each other.

46. Our HS is very community based
They tried to roll 5 schools into a consortium to allow kids to pick which one to go to and our opted out so we could remain a community. Despite the DC burbs being very mobile having 3rd and 4th generations attend the HS is not uncommon.

Is the PTA working on this issue?
