Allergies
So wednesday night I had to go to the hospital because of a suspected heart-attack (chest pain and positive enzyme test at the Doctor's office).

I am the bed propped up on pillows, with the usual intubations, my chest festooned with telemetry pads (those sticky things with the glue invented by Al Qeada terrorists, bad news on a furry chest). The room is filled with people seriously concerned about my well-being.

The Nurse is taking down particulars of my checkered medical history. "Any Allergies?"

At that point the Al Franken video posted on DU earlier in the day is going through my mind. Don't swallow anything that comes from Rush Limbaugh's butt.

"Republicans!"

Got a good laugh with that one.

Two days of tests. As it turned out, no heart attack. I'm currently at large again.

2. Best of wishes, Turbineguy!
Your friend.

To those who don't know him, his native language is Dutch, and his English came sometime later in his youth. That gives him an "outsider's perspective" on English, and makes him a more effective user of it than many. That may be related to the "unique" writing style of Joseph Conrad (or even Thorstein Veblen).

He also has a wicked Swiftian sense of humor, that sometimes goes over the heads of many. One time early in the game, he even got "bounced" from DU. His posting went over the head of the Moderator! Fortunately, he saw his error, and reinstated him. That was DU's gain.

6. Funny you should mention that...
Two years ago I had a pulmonary embolism. For the stress test in the nuclear (or is that nukular?) medicine section they shaved my chest. The lady doing the work was zipping along with the shaver hurting me and turning my chest into a bloody pulp. It was like one of the cat-o-nine tails scenes from the Bounty. All the while she was telling me she was going to retire in two weeks and me thinking that future patients would never know their good fortune.

I found out this time around she had indeed retired. I wish her happiness and what's more hope her husband will never be incapacitated and have to be shaved by her.

7. All I know about the hospital is...
If someone asks if you've gone to the bathroom yet, always say yes. If you dont, they will do very bad, and painful, things to you.

Hope you feel better.
