Basically I'm talking big $$$ or big hype LOSERS.

You may ask why "House of the Dead"? In the horror movie community this film was rumored to be comparable with the Romero Dead trilogy (which I highly reccomend if you have the time and the stomach - excellent social commentary, especially Dawn of the dead) and it turned out to be absolutely horrible.

2. Gigli and H.O.D. - Suck!
However, I think your being a little hard on "Ishtar." I mean, the story is no gem, but the songs!

For instance:

"Telling the truth can be dangerous business,
honest and popular don't go hand in hand
If you say you can play the accordion,
won't get you a job in a rock and roll band."

Classic!

4. Hmm... Greatest Story Ever Told.
I don't believe that movie ever made back its negative cost.

David Lean's Ryan's Daughter was a pretty big disaster for MGM in 1970. Milos Forman's version of E. L. Doctorow's Ragtime was a huge flop. The '62 version of Mutiny on the Bounty with Marlon Brando tanked.

There are lots of others, but my head is clouded right now.

6. "Ishtar" was good (and yes, this is subjective)
My dad used to work in Abu Dhabi. After hearing him talk about Arab culture, and having him explain several of what were supposed to be jokes in that film, I watched it again and LMAO.

lost its shirt -- its blue one and its gray one.

I'm a Civil War nut, and I didn't even think it was very good.

8. The Quest
Van Damme's absolutely worst Piece of Crap, ever.

And that's saying something.

Not even a supporting role for Roger Moore was able to keep this turkey alive.

11. Cleopatra, Inchon, Pennies From Heaven, Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner)

In the early 1980s, Harry and Mike Medved wrote an excellent book called THE HOLLYWOOD HALL OF SHAME: TINSELTOWN'S MOST EXPENSIVE FLOPS. I still have my copy lying around somewhere. At this point, however, I would imagine the book screams for an update!
