A couple of hypothetical questions.
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 04:07 PM by Commie Pinko Dirtbag
Suppose, hypothetically, that I went to NYC and, during my hypothetical stay in the US of Hypothetical A, I wanted to displace myself to, hypothetically, Ohio and/or Illinois. What would be the absolute dirt-cheapest way of doing so? Bus? Train? Plane? Rickshaw?

Moreover, suppose, hypothetically, that I wanted to buy a Wii or two while in one of the aforementioned hypothetical locations. Would that be feasible or is there still a 50-year waiting list?

Hypothetically yours,
Commie

2. Walking would be the cheapest.
But that would take longer than I expect you'd want to invest time-wise.

Flying is kind of expensive. My husband is from Cincy and we fly there a lot. We drove, once which took about 10 hours. Maybe see how much it costs to rent a car.

3. Probably a bus would be cheapest.
But, hypothetically, :bounce:

4. But a bus from NYC to Ohio is a very long, tedious trip.

:(

What a waste of a trip to spend it on a bus. A flight might be just as cheap if you don't care what time/day of the week you fly.

5. Hypothetically...
you can fly very cheap from NYC to Chicago Midway on Southwest Airlines.

Actually, that's not hypothetical. You can do that. :)

6. Bus may be the absolute cheapest...
but I wouldn't recommend Greyhound from NYC to Ohio. You might want to suck it up and find a cheap flight. The Train might do you, though, a one-way from NYC to most cities in Ohio is less than $100, but some flights can be about $200 round trip, and you save at least 7 hours of travel time each way.

However, from Ohio to Illinois: http://megabus.com/us/ <===CHEEEEEEEAAAAAAP!

Dunno about the Wii, though.

9. why rickshaw!
but that might harm your commie cred.

Really, I'd go for a plane, or rent a car, if you dare to drive our crazed highways. I think there are supposed to be some Wiis available in Feb. or March. At least that's what the guy at the vid store which my kid frequents said.

10. Here's my HO:

1-Rent Car. Cheaper than the plane and maybe the train. Of course make sure you have a navigation unit. Downside-have to do everything yourself even if you are tired. If you're not used to our road systems for some reason; can be pain in ass.
2-PASSENGER train. Again; not as expensive as plane; and if there is a good route to pick you could see some nice scenery AND not have to do anything yourself except get on and off and eat. Downside-there may not be a scenic route;and that could be VERY ugly.
3-Plane. Worth the expense for the fast arrival. Downside-security. Possibly shitteous service.
4-Bus. I would really not suggest this unless you have a ton of time to waste and really really love people.Really.

OH! I forgot to mention: It might be easier (but maybe not) to buy said hypothetical Wii's and have them (securely!--signature) shipped to yourself rather than trying to explain them/having them manhandled at airport security and customs in and out of the country. I dunno; I could be wrong. If you pack them yourself and ship from a friend's house you can be pretty sure they'll get where they are supposed to go if you use a good carrier.
HYPOTHETICALLY.
