Can anyone tell me about their experience with In Vitro Fertilization?

Can anyone tell me about their experience with In Vitro Fertilization?
Private message or in forum would be fine... I'm looking for information for someone close to me, primarily about what side effects were experienced at what stages, whether this got better or worse, how much the pain of injections was a factor, whether there was anything that could be done to mitigate this.

I'm looking for personal, anecdotal experience as opposed a list of possible side effects I can read anywhere.

Any information appreciated.

I'm not the woman in this deal

but my wife was.

The injections didn't hurt me a bit. I did give the progesterone to her daily after the procedure.

She had a bad reaction the first go around and spent 3 days in the hospital.

Second go around she got pregnant and we have a son.
