Here's an email I got this morning thanks to registering on the JEOPARDY! site for some reason at some point in the past:

Attention JEOPARDY! viewers:

TAKE THE JEOPARDY! TEST ONLINE!

Take the first step toward becoming a contestant on America's Favorite Quiz Show® from the comfort of your own home!

The test will take place at Jeopardy.com on the following dates and times*:

For East Coast viewers:
Tuesday, January 23rd at 8 p.m. EST

For Central/Mountain viewers:
Wednesday, January 24th at 8 p.m. CST / 7 p.m. MST

For Pacific Coast viewers (including Alaska and Hawaii):
Thursday, January 25th at 8 p.m. PST

*We strongly encourage you to take the test in your own time zone. However, you may take the test on another night depending on the demands of your schedule.

Registration will remain open until 7:30 PM Pacific Time tonight. It only takes a few minutes, so please visit the test site to register now. Be sure to read through the technical requirements and familiarize yourself with the Test Overview and Tutorial, and remember to bookmark the test site.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 or older.
You are not eligible if you have taken the JEOPARDY! 50-question contestant test either in person or online since January 23rd, 2006. (If you took the National Online Test last March you are not eligible for this round of tests.)
You are not eligible to be a contestant on JEOPARDY! if you have appeared on any version of the show, including the Kids, Teen, and College tournaments, hosted by Alex Trebek. For full eligibility requirements CLICK HERE.

Edit: Red-faced apologies for my inability to calculate time based on time zones. Apparently, not only can I not tell east from west but also I can't read a clock going from west to east either. Hopefully this won't be on the test.:)

5. I tried out once already...

when Jeoopardy came to town and did in-person testing. For the record, I'm one of those people that simply Does Not Lose at Trivial Pursuit. I own trivia, doesn't matter what category. And yet ... I didn't even make it past the first round of testing. :cry:

6. I was on Jeopardy in 1999.

8. Its not what you know, its what you know RIGHT NOW.

Jeopardy's format is all about how quickly you can recall the odd information. You may know a ton of trivia, but if you cant recall it instantly you wont do well.
