When the NFL game on Fox is over...
I don't want to see some fucking post game shit with a bunch of has beens. I was promised "The Simpsons" and goddammit, that's what I want to see.

This may be trivial, but this is my rant for tonight. I HATE that crap. The fucking game was just on...why do they have to analyze it??

4. I know it's silly...
but I have to laugh. Post game "analysis". It's a freaking football game, not an Ingmar Bergman film.

But "The Simpsons" is indeed on, so now I'm happy. :-)

2. Because analyzing a bunch of men who pat each other on the field (and women on boats afterward) is
more profitable than analyzing anything else.

That's why I tune into Andy Rooney. His segment lacks corporate logos changing in the background! :D

3. Well you are a distinct minority
Two of your "Has Beens" have 6 Super Bowl rings between them..and Coach Johnson has two..that would be 8.

Oh, Howie and Terry are in the NFL Hall of Fame, too.
We should ALL be such "has beens" in life,eh?

5. Well, ok...
But you're making the assumption that I would actually care about former football players.

But enough..."The Simpsons" are back on, so end of conversation. :-)

9. In the States the NFL is a major Religion
It's hard to avoid this time of year...but there's lots of channels.
As for the Simpson's and such...if Fox didn't think the NFL was a moneymaker they wouldn't have paid BILLIONS to broadcast it.

7. I am SO with you, my friend.
At 8:00 my housemate was subjected to ten minutes of me ranting "What the FUCK, why does anyone care what Terry Bradshaw has to say about ANYTHING?" and suchlike until "The Simpsons" finally started.

That and plus overtime games mess up my DVR. :grr:

Just delay it a little.

How long can it take him to say "screw you, I'm doing what I want"

18. Because other people want to see it.
As for the "has beens" comment, they aren't there because they were once great football players, they are there because they are currently highly professional analysts and announcers whose past experience in the sport gives them a greater understanding of their subject.

My question isn't why there is so much sports coverage, but why there is so little correspondingly professional political coverage. I have long said that if political journalism was given the same professionalism and expertise as sports journalism, this nation would be in better shape. We know of every nuance of every super star athlete's ability, and all we know about our candidates is which one most people would like to drink a beer with. Imagine if Bush's political decisions had been broken down and rehashed as thoroughly as Peyton Manning's ability to read the defense, or Michael Vick's throwing motion. Imagine if Reagan's and Clinton's economic strategiesand their effectiveness were explained as well as Bill Walsh's offensive system or Buddy Ryan's defensive system. Then we'd have a country worth bragging about.

As for the Simpsons... They're still on, huh? Oh well, cute show.
