Does anyone have a good friend who is at least 30+ years older
than you are (not counting family)? Just wondering. I've been fortunate to have had at least three in my life, all of them 70+ years of age.

1. I have, and have had a number.
They are among my favorite people. :) I count myself as very fortunate.

3. A few DUer who are IRL friends are over 30 years older than me.
That hardly makes them impressively old, I'm only in my 20s.

4. I don't have any 30 yrs older that me but...
I do have dear, close friends, the ones you buy Christmas presents for that range from 35 years younger than me to 17 years older. That's a span of 52 years with me at 56 years old. My youngest close friend has been one since she was 14. I feel fortunate that my friends are fairly evenly spaced from young to old so I have perspectives from all generations. My actual family is sparse and widely scattered, mostly people I hardly know. My friends are the family of my heart.

5. Yes
The person who I adore more than anyone on this earth - she's a wonderful friend and mentor - is 34 years older than me.

Another good friend of mine is 35 years older than me. I'm friends with her daughter, as well, who's 10 years older than me, but I was friends with the former first. :)

6. Yes, a few
guys that I have met at the bar....the regulars who frequent that place as much as I do.

I consider a few of them my friends. Nice guys. Simply just for friendship.

7. I have "hanging out" buddies
25 years older and 50 years younger. I feel so fortunate to have those from both ends of the spectrum calling me to "come over and play."

8. I have a good friend who will be 101 in March!
(I'm 38). I've always had friends of all varying ages - now I can say I have friends who run from age 1 to (almost) 101. :D

9. Yes ....
My dear friend, Ardrene. We worked one of the old switchboards together a long time ago and it was the most fun I've ever had in a job. She was like a second Mom to me and I love her dearly. She's 87 now and is sharp as a tack and very adorable.

10. It works the other way too
They may be 30+ years older, but your friendship keeps them feeling young.

Good for you to include and recognize the relevance of other generations in your life.

:)

13. Yep. I've got three or four at this point.
That's very useful. They can always tell me, "Well, when I was your age..."

14. A bunch of them...
One was my granny's maid of honor. I learned about her relationship with granny after college and made several visits to see her and we called and exchanged letters for years. We were in touch well into her late 90's until she could no longer communicate - she passed away at 101. I lost my granny while a little tyke so she was that connection with someone I loved dearly.

Others are my parent's friends, my hometown neighbors, and folks I used to work with, and most of them are 30+ older. I think half of them are pushing late 80's
