Whats up with SNL? Andy Sandburg? WTF?
In the last year it seems like they are trying to propel him into the spotlight anytime they can... This guy is new to the cast and hes being thrust down our throats every week..

Its like Dane Cook.. A comedian without comedy..

End rant...

1. Don't get me started on SNL.
It's like a comedy black hole. It's so unfunny it actually sucks comedy into itself and the world is consequently less funny as a result. Just look at how much more serious everything has become since the show's been on.

3. The reason SNL sucks
is the contracts they are required to sign.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snl#Contracts

Actors joining the show have to agree in their five-to-six year contract that, upon request, they will act in up to three movies by SNL Films, for fees of $75,000, $150,000, and then $300,000; and also that, upon request, they would leave SNL and act in an NBC sitcom for up to an additional six years.

It seems that NBC got tired of cast members using the show to launch lucrative film careers, so they turned it into essentially indentured servitude. Anyone with real talent and/or better prospects is just gonna tell them to fuck off.

Funny stuff.

EDIT: OT, but do you listen to TV on the Radio? I bought their new one today and figured they seemed like your type of music.

I'll have to listen to it a few more times, though, to get a better feel for it. It's one of those types of albums, but what I remember hearing was very good.

23. Here's a link.
http://bagelradio.com/compilations/

Scroll down to the Cloak Room compilation and click on the artwork to download a zip file. The last track is "Dry Drunk Emperor" by TV on the Radio. There's lots of other good stuff there, too. I downloaded all of the music on this page for my iPod, and I can vouch for the safety of these files. Enjoy!

I nearly died laughing when I saw that. And what's worse is that it is so catchy!

SNL is funny every now and then. Occasionally a good week will happen. The recent firings helped, especially with Tina Fey and Rachael Dratch.

she wasn't fired. She left on her own.

18. Rachel is gone.
But she pops up on Tina's new show from time to time playing different characters. It's actually quite a good show.

21. Debbie's theme song...
You're enjoying your day
Everything's going your way
Then along comes Debbie Downer.

Always there to tell you 'bout a new disease
A car accident or killer bees
You'll beg her to spare you, "Debbie, Please!"
But you can't stop Debbie Downer!

I know a few Debbie Downers. The one where she and Jimmy Fallon couldn't stop laughing had me rolling!

27. She is one of my SIL's best friends.
So far, I haven't gotten to meet her. But I'm hoping to someday.

She was supposed to have a bigger permanent roll in Tina's show, but they decided to hire that chick from Ally McBeal instead.

24. For the life of me I couldn't find that funny
Yeah, I understand the premise. Talking about the ordinary using rap cliches. Funny for about 1 minute. Loses it's charm after the second verse.

Dane Cook and Andy Samberg are good examples of comedians without comedy.

viewers will be so stoned they'll believe he is Adam Sandler. :P I saw one show with him and determined he has zero comedic talent, he's just a kinda cute, Jewish kid with a mop top (sound familiar?).

The current cast is so unfunny they are close to replicating the horror of the 1980 cast with those "comedy greats" Denny Dillon, Robin Duke, Tim Kazurinsky, Gail Matthius, Ann Risley, Charles Rocket, and Tony Rosato.

When was the last time you heard of any of them???

Just not on SNL. They were much better as comedic foils in comedy movies.

19. I think he is funny
I have been hearing that SNL isn't funny any more since 1979... It has its moments. Trust me, there were many non-funny skits in the beginning too. People like to reminisce with rose colored glasses.

26. SNL has long since jumped the shark
Even during their "second rennasaince" there was better comedy to be had on "Kids in the Hall"

There's all kinds of better comedy out there - just gotta know where to look.
