WARNING PWI Posting while drunk. (HIC!)
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 02:34 AM by Booberdawg
I mentioned I had a date tonight with 3 men. It turned out to be 6 and a couple of the women in the department showed up too. There were about a dozen of us in all till about 8 or 9 when people started leaving. I had a great time and got good hugs and kisses from all my favorite men tonight.

I’m not really snockered – I’m just a bit buzzed.

This was a lay-off party. It has been one year since the company went belly up. We had parties at the incremental layoff times last January, February, and March. I met with some of the guys last summer for shits and grins and thus have corresponded in email since then but have not seen any of them for months. So tonight was a treat for all of us.

I confess to having a friend that is a freeper. I can honestly say I love him. I noticed through emails this year that he went though a severe depression and he told me tonight that after the February get-together he got arrested for DUI and spent the night in jail. Now that I know it all fits together and all falls in place.

Paul and I also argued about Rush Limbaugh and the Iraq war tonight and politics but do you know what? When I arrived at the bar he stood up and gave me a big hug and a kiss, and when he decided to leave I planted a huge smooch upon his sorry ass person hood. We are good buddies and politics are secondary to that. I just love that guy. He's an asshole. ;-)

I wore my Democratic Underground sweatshirt to this gathering. This is Republican territory and I did that intentionally. It was noticed and I was asked about it. I responded that I have become a pain in the ass liberal/Democrat. The responses were that is was no surprise I was a pain in the ass. ;-)

A lady I worked with came home with me and visited for a couple hours just now. She is a registered Republican but wants nothing to do with bush* anymore and wanted to talk to me about Democratic alternatives. She is going to change her affiliation from Republican to Democratic because of the 87 Billion extra funds bush* asked for. -

BUT Yikes! I love Jan dearly, but she is prejudiced as hell. She hates Affirmative Action and is indignant about gays suggesting they are entitled to equal rights. *sigh* I was incredulous with her talk about gay rights and kept asking her why and she brought up the BIBLE! I got up and walked away and said DON'T EVEN bring the Bible into this conversation. She GOT my message. We still love each other.

All in all it was a good night.

I think I'll have another drink.

Someone asked a week or so ago if people could still type if they were drunk. I said I'd let you know in a week, as in tonight. I don't think I'm drunk enough for the test, but I'm doing fine.

I have so many dear, sweet, wonderful, Freeper friends. It sucks that you can't always turn them around, but you're sure to get through to a few... and together, that's enough of them to make a difference.

Remember... they say that we hate America. I say that they hate Americans.

Thanks for that account, Booberdawg! And, cheers!

:D
Jennifer

I am not trying to change anyone around. This person came to me. She wants nothing to do with bush and wants to change her party affiliation. She also ask me about going to the Iowa Primary which is something I may do, but I warned her my purpose was for a meet-up with partisan Democrats and I don't think that is the same as her purpose is. I warned her.

I don't think all republicans are freepers and disrupter's. I think many of them are moderates like the ones I know. I LIVE among them!

Because I wore the shirt I also got another conversation from the wife of one of the other guys and she just might be another DU recruit. I gave her the DU address and my DU handle and my email address and maybe she will join. He is a Democrat also, so maybe we'll have a couple new members soon. They are Kerry supporters, although I did tell them that I do not advocate any particular candidate and will vote for the THE democratic candidate in the 2004 election, no matter who it is.

I just spent a couple hours trying to wax and wane poetic on one of SOteric's poetry threads. It took me a BUTT LOAD of brain power of time and energy to write it. I'm just not talented. That's too much work.

Oops! I meant to tack this on to Hillsey's post but I'm not going to start over now.

I'd like to say I wish I didn't have any freeper friends but I do; I live in freeper country. I DO have freeper friends. I'd like to think none of them are the obnoxious kind we see here as disrupter's that get tombstoned. I seriously doubt it. These are nice guys that just disagree, and frankly, are seriously misinformed.

I jabbed Paul tonight with rushbos addiction to pills and the fact that he always talks outta his ass anyway and lies. Paul was incredulous at the suggestion that rushbo ever lies??? ROTFLOL!! I thought it was common knowledge! *sigh*

Somebody shoot me.

9. i was hoping someone would have some comments on how to deal with Jan
She is obviously a Republican that wants to convert but her mindset is revolting. She indicates an interest to go to the iowa caucuses with me too.

What am I going to do with a potential convert at a DU meetup that is against Arirmative action, actually she sounds god damned predjudiced when it comes to anything that pertains to Blacks in general, and she is indignant about gays having the same rights as everyone else when it comes to marriage ans legal rights?

I was just incredulous talking to her. It's not the same when you meet a person you think highly of face to face. She knows I stropngly disagree with her and she backed off. But she wants to switch her Party affilitation to Democratic because she can't tolerate bush* anymore.

What am I to do? HELP!!!
