Soaking my foot/ankle/broken tibia, in ice water right now....
Good lord who would have ever thought freezing water could feel so good. :)

I think I may start a poem like this someday:

Fractured tibia plunged in icy depths
its scattered bone wept like
public saints, drowning philosophic
inflammation. Lethal exile in an
ancient plastic ice cream container

The gallon jug is broken in the wind
simple colored in winter blue,
blood has no fear, the images
crack while he slouches pillhappy
sinking in an arctic desert dream

3. carrying a chair down the steps
I started to roll my ankle, I caught it, but the chair (love seat type thing) shifted it's weight back onto me and I rolled my ankle back out the opposite way as I fell backward. Sounded like a carrot snapping in two.:) As loud as it was though, it ended up not being a full fracture, so I just got one of those walking casts. :)

8. My sympathies to you
I did the same thing (rolled/twisted my ankle - minus the chair/love seat thingy) almost three weeks ago. I knew I broke it when I did it but didn't want a cast getting in my way right before Christmas so I waited until last week to have it x-rayed.

9. I feel your pain - really
When I was a sophomore in college, I was goaded into joining an intramural soccer team by some friends. I had never played soccer, and so at the first practice I watched more than anything, untill the ball inexplicably came my way, so I took what seemed to be a perfect kick.

All I remembered was a loud CRACK and the first thought I had was "that can't be good." the next thing I knew i was sitting on the groundwith my leg stretched straigt ou, but my foot seemed to be headed in a different direction. I had brokrn one of the bones in my leg just above the ankle and it popped out of socket. They had to put a screw in the legbone so the ankle would stay in place.

I till have the screw in my leg. 30+ years later.

10. Oh, no! The dreaded attack steps
our new year's eve plans were scrapped after our social secretary slipped on the 2 steps from the house down to the garage on her fancy high heels and broke her toe.

Get well soon! :hi:
